Fabbers i know for me fab causes a fierce distraction in my mind lol. I am trying to learn to switch off for a period of time rather than delete my account every time. Does anyone else find it terribly distracting from reality?

Yes. We take breaks and hide the profile now and then. Laura is on Instagram way more than on here though so that's worse than here for us!

Oh god definitely i didn't last long on that actually best thing that ever happened there was i got locked out of my account. I didn't get hooked on any of those anyway really but i'm definitely hook line and sinker on fab lol.

I joined Instagram after tik tok and i thought to myself why am i joining this now and i deleted it within two weeks. One good thing is i have giving up on the dating sites for the last two years now so am very happy with that. What a pure waste of presious time.

Oh i know i will be doing it when i need to now but i think it's an interesting conversation how social media as a whole is distracting peoples lives actually not just fab. Maybe i should have named the thread social media distractions. I did switch off fab before during the week before and only come on the weekends and that worked really well, i like to challenge my mind and just having a good balance in my life really . Lol have a good day everyone.

Fab and my phone in general can definitely be a distraction from trivial things or from doing slightly healthier things with my free time I guess.

But I think I'm well able to segregate it from the important things in life.

My work doesn't suffer, I dont use it when I'm having conversations or sitting around a table with people so it's not something I worry about.

I've left a few times when I felt that the prospect of casual sex on here was impacting my interests in something more substantial but I'm not sure the two are related so I came back.

If something becomes to hard work, most people leave it. If it becomes addictive? People should leave it. I bin things and people if they become hard to deal with. I became an addict to A feeling I got from something years ago and it nearly killed me. Everything in moderation. My work gives me pockets of time and i take them to use on different things. I give Certain amounts of it away to, and do some voluntary work with certain groups of people. Give yourself a little time every day instead of days in end and then leave yourself thinking about it, and then just put it out of your mind.

This is of course what i mean lol along with the forums which are actually ok in moderation aswell. I just find i have to work on not spending to much time in general online. It's grand when i am busy but when i am home supposed to be do more important things it can become a weakness but i'm working on limiting it the best that i can.

Oh that's a shame to hear

Fab can get a little overwhelming at times but I'm sure whatever I feel it's nowhere near as intense and unpleasant for the ladies, particularly single ladies

Hopefully when you come back you'll have a more positive experience

Yes i hear you then perhaps it's time to take a break . If you feel better when you do then you know it was becoming an issue making you feel down for whatever reason. I just get board mostly and fed up of it and feel there is more to life then waste time scrolling,it is so addictive and like any addiction it's not just how often you on it's how it makes to you feel.

I don’t know about distracting. I find my time here very purposeful these days . I don’t browse or search for profiles or send a load of messages as such any longer . Log on few times a day , answer messages , arrange meets if possible , post on threads . As long as I meet my family and occupational needs , carry on with hobbies , have fresh air , socialise with non fabbers , etc then all good. What fab gives me is important so I don’t think my time on it as wasted .

Yes. And it takes time away from other hobbies that I could do. But it has created many fantastic experiences. I just need to manage it better. And I have gotten better. Hiding profile does help. It's like a circuit breaker. WFH has not helped.....

Tbh if it wasn't for the odd social party or event we'd leave as fab itself tends to be a little tedious and annoying . Then again Facebook and Instagram are the same.
