Not sure why superman being bi causes more offense or creates more attention than other changes made... well I do but still.

Also instead of it being pandering you could look at it as reflecting society as it is, and as it was then too just that people where to scared, oppressed and shamed to reflect it in the art of the time

Time for me to put on my nerd hat - this isn't Clark Kent/Kal El as played by Chris Reeve, etc. It's the new Superman, the son of Clark and Lois. I guess ill borrow one of your sayings and say its like a "love the sinner, hate the sin" type scenario. Religious actors aren't bad peoole. They just have some unpleasant beliefs that I'd rather not be around. Do I want them out of a job? No. Would I want to work around someone evangelising to me all day as their religion says they have to? No.
