I have noticed of late that read messages very quickly become un-read again. Do you do that, if so, what is the purpose of it and what is achieved by it? Asking for a firend....

Somewhere in Co. Down

Because sometimes if I don't have time to answer then I'll go back to it later the yellow reminds me to .

Other times it's because it was a faf type message I mark unread and delete it.

I don't get very many messages so it's like framing one as a momento

That makes a lot of sense alright. I don't mind about deleted messages, that way at least I know that I am not wanted

Does that mean it still shows as unread from the senders perspective? I never knew that!

If it bugs you a simple solution is to delete the sent messages after they are sent.

I do it if I've no interest in the person but because I reply to every message it's my kind of way to just keep the message there so I can go back to it.

I know other people do it cause again they don't have an interest but rather than deleting they keep them there so if showing your profile to someone then it looks like a shock factor.... "oh you have 800 unread messages".... 'yeah I'm popular'.

I do it to remind me to go back and answer if I don’t have the time right then. Unfortunately I often forget to back and answer…oops.

Meath / Dublin / Birmingham

The only reason some my messages sit there appearing unread is I'm sat there in shock that I actually received one

Then the oul inbox gathers dust for another while til someone's mad enough to message me again

I sometimes read a message and mark it as unread so my other half will read it also, or if I think he would be better at answering than me .
