Hallo all. I hope ya all had a splendid weekend.

I'm off on me travels in two weeks time and I was wondering if anyone had any hidden gems or nuggets of wisdom. I have no interest in the red light district or fancy meals, I would like to experience a day as a Dutchman. I'm traveling solo so if anyone knows where I could meet friendly people let me know. Any nice local pub that don't charge through the nose or a decent pizzeria? or groovy areas like around the local art college, Charity shops or car boot sales or if anyone knows where I could buy cheap bike for a fews days that would be fantastic. I'm tipping down to Leiden that weekend. Has anyone ever studied there? is Thursday night in Leiden a student night? Any tips or experiences ye've had would be appreciated.

Be good, Doei.

Newry Down

If you want to see how Holland came into existence you should visit the Afsluitdijk (spelling may not be precise) the dijk that was built across the Zuider Zee about 85+ years ago; plus the new Rhine Barrier; these are stunning engineering achievements that keep Holland safe, for a few more decades.

Oh no I'm definitely doing that. I like art so I'll give a day or two to the museums. Any piece in particular worth seeing?

There's 3 museums in one square and worth checking for cheap tickets online

The last time I went I was mesmerised by Sunflowers which is my favorite painting

I agree. When I was there his paintings were laid out in chronological order. I was never a fan beforehand but I was blown away. It is surrounded by a great residential area with nice cafes and restaurants.

I go to Amsterdam a few times a year to relax

( pre covid)

I visit a hotel and day spa called The Zuiver Spa

It has over 100,000 sq ft of Saunas,Jacuzzis, steam rooms, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and day bed areas

A couple of hundred people just chilling out all day and it even has a bar and restaurant

4 days a week its compulsory to be nude and swimwear on the other 3 days so check their website to which you prefer

I have been a few times . Best way to see Amsterdam is on a bicycle, you will never see everything walking around, every day I got a local train to a near by town hour or two,all of them are lovely, be organised and plan your days in advance would be my advice..

Is it the opportunity to be nude that lures you over as there are fine hotels and spas here? I presume that place is non sexual?

Completely non sexual and to be honest there's nothing like that type of spa in Ireland

I've also done day trips to a few in Germany and Belgium that are fully nude and again non sexual but very relaxing

“ Ad Dinny said While we’re here

We’ll go have a look at the kinky gearI said a quiet prayer I wouldn’t bump into anyone from Kildare

There were Big Dildos, Blow up Dolls, Snap on tools and Hairy Balls

There were Vibrators, Clips and Chains, ???? and Fanny Ticklers

God between us and all harm

Ohhh the weekend that we spent in Amsterdam”

So I was just there, back a couple of days.

The Dungeon was really fun, would definitely recommend. Van Gogh museum is super interesting too if that is your thing. Bars vary depending on what you're looking for.

Red light secrets is also an interesting display, can be funny too.

Masks are only mandatory on public transport at the moment also
