"Do you ever wonder what life is all about ."

Awfully deep for a Sunday night , no ?

Yes all the time . I think , it’s about having meaning . Having a purpose , connections , the occasional wow , and the conversations you have with yourself (inner dialogue ). Btw these 4 pillars I stole from one of my favourite books on the subject

I used to, but you'd drive yourself mad thinking about it. So I'm just enjoying it while it lasts and looking forward to finding out once I pop my clogs. Mrs

To me Life is all about living..to me Life is not about your material wealth or gain..the universe doesn't give a fuck about your materialistic situation.. it is about your kindness..your empathy...your willingness to help others that need it more than you at any particular time ..the kind word..the love that you show to others...the time you give to people that need it ...we will all check out of this life here sometime..so today..and everyday from now on ..when you wake in the morning before you jump into the day let Andy Dufrene's quote kick start your day..." Get busy living or get busy dying ".have an awesome beautiful day everyone.

We are just little wobbly blobs of mostly water shuffling about on an inconsequential rock in the arse end of a perfectly ordinary galaxy. Looking for meaning is rather self important. We just are, thanks to chemistry, physics, and evolution, and we will appear and dissappear in the blink of an eye on cosmic scales, having done nothing of any significance to the universe in general. We have no more meaning than bacteria in a petri dish, or the mould on that old apple at the bottom of the fruit bowl.

We have been cursed with consciousness so whilst it might be considered self important to wonder about the meaning of life and our significance in it, that is our burden I suppose. We worry about the past and we worry about the future, it is extraordinarily difficult to simply live in the now.

Watched a program on bbc4 last night. Basically in a few million years the sun will expand so much (giant red star phase) that it will fully engulf earth. That’s it, done and dusted. So does that mean then that heaven disappears also. How could it possibly exist after that?

All I want is to wake up feeling happy, that is a struggle these days.

It's what you make it and whether you are talking about your own life or that of others.

In relation to another thread, something I've learned since joining fab is that there are a lot of people on here who are really only beginning to live their own lives in their 40s and 50s.

It's great being able to say that life is all about leaving your mark and making a difference for others.

However you can't sustain that by sacrificing your own needs.

Life for many means simply existing and coping.

For many it is all about giving and for others all about taking.

For some it can be an exhilarating thrill ride while others drift slowly along a lazy river and that isn't necessarily a good thing.

It means different things to different people.

I don't think it's a reason time be unhappy. We all came from stars, and to stars we will all eventually return. Just because that's our fate doesn't mean its not awesome. I don't think you can derive meaning from this process though. It's just cause and effect. All things shall pass. We will disappear into entropy.

I just I wouldn’t take stuff so serious. My kids are pretty much reared but the thought of not being part of that household scares the bits out of me. Just for more opportunities for sex with others. I wish I could shut off my urges as I find it damn hard to deal with. Life!!

Get into a good morning routine . There is a lot of evidence based stuff you can do. Once you’ve tried your best to be the best you you can be if that’s still not working for your mood or your chemistry with your partner then you know what the only solution is . I wouldn’t expect others to have any obligations towards you , but if a partner doesn’t respond to deep changes you’re making to be a better you then the ethical processing of what your actions should look like requires a deep review

My routine is get up and train. But we used to have a good night cuddle, now, not even touching. We function really well for life’s normal stuff but just the passion has dipped greatly. I know it’s my fault as I always wanted more but I can’t control the emotions. She is great and is my first real girlfriend so it’s very tough, on both of us.

It’s probably nothing to do with you and may well be linked to menopause or other factors. Not beating yourself up is a good start . I have a menu of 15 different things I d try at different times to make sure I had a good day regardless . These were essential in keeping me sane until I was ready to make longer term decisions about what is likely to be a long term situation . I am happy to give you a list through a PM to ensure that this thread isn’t hijacked

That's awful I really feel for you. It's not your fault though. Have you guys talked about it? You both deserve to have a fulfilling intimate life. It could just be that you aren't compatible any more sadly, or there might be particular issues you can work through together. Have you tried counselling? That would be a logical step.

I would agree with this. Yes we have choice but our decisions are predetermined so we are exactly where we are meant to be in life. So no regrets and no worries, just deal with stuff as it happens. This is how I approach life and it works for me. Mrs

Fully agree. I believe we don’t have any choice. We think we do but our choice as we call it is predetermined. Go with the flow sometimes. Keep thinking we have a choice but in reality…

Yes, yes, yes

People regret decisions they've made, constantly wonder about the 'what ifs' and worry incessantly about the future. I see it all the time with my own family. Such a fruitless exercise and a waste of energy. Some people would be much happier in general if they realised this

"Do you ever wonder what life is all about ."

Life is nothing but a loop, a continuous process of growth. Our existence is our own creation and thought. Without our creation and thought nothing would exist. There is no grand meaning to life, but to live life and enjoy your existence and experience.

Each person you meet or come in contact with are a connection/part of you. Our existence is linked to the growth that we experience on our journey in life. Only when we’ve lived in the shoes of the next man can we truly understand what life is all about....

Life is what we make it...

This is my view of what life is...

Lol. In this context I'm talking about the cooling of the universe as it ages. The order that we see now will eventually end up so thinly spread and cold that there won't be enough useful energy left to do anything interesting. Galaxy and star formation will slow then stop and the matter than makes our planet and everything on it including our own body materials (that were previously swallowed by our expanding sun) will slowly cool to absolute zero and drift forever in cold nothingness.

That's our ultimate fate by current estimation.

I’ve thought about life, the universe and everything… even read a book (or trilogy that is not a trilogy) on the subject.

The answer to the meaning of life was one of the most important questions these books asked…. And they have an answer.

42.

Anyone seeking the source of this answer… Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
