To me it's always been bittersweet. It marked a change for them from hard, speeeeeeeed to hard Rock. Some great stuff on it but they never hit those heights again.

I think it was Cliff Burton that introduced them to lizzy's music. I saw Eric Bell play with them in the old point in the late 90s

The album that got me into Metallica and metal music! Their best is Master of Puppets, my favourite is Ride The Lightening but The Black album will always hold a soft spot for me

The amount if classic albums that turn 30 over the next few weeks is scary. Peak times for music imo. GNR, NIRVANA,PEARL JAM, METALLICA, sound Garden. RHCP. all released an album in a 44 day period in 1991.. unreal...

I had the album when it came out. But that gig, their live performance blew me away. Needless to say, that section of the tape(VHS for all you young lings) was worn out.

Managed to see them live in '96 at the Point Depot(that would be the 3 arena)... Couldn't hear shit for four days. Bliss.

I still remember Master of Puppets gig in, I think, the SFX and seeing them in Dun Laoghaire Top Hat too, amongst many other places since, though Slane was the biggest pain in the ass, logistically
