Any interest in a non-sexual Irish social group?

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone is interested in forming a non-sexual social group open to people of all ages, genders, sexualities, etc with a view to arranging some nights out, day trips, meals, get-togethers, etc? This would NOT be for hooking up or for play at any of these events, but rather with the aim of bringing together like-minded individuals who want to spend social time together.

Let's explore Ireland together!

This is a pretty good idea to be fair. I don't know anyone who would have set up one of these groups but if I did... id be handpicking ppl to join for the perfect balance of a hassle free group. Just saying.

That would be a thanks but no thanks from me too. I've seen too many groups setup through fab with good intentions that always without fail turn into something else.

Too many people who don't grasp the social aspect and feel that regardless of rules and however many times it may be explained it has to be all about the shagging doesn't it?

I think it is a potentially wonderful idea. People might be unclear about how it works so it might be best to organise a social with a clear itinerary (coffee then IMMA for example ) with no booze or hotels to confuse the picture. If people end up fancying each other then so be it but that’s not the primary intention

Its a great idea but hard to do, as said above the kik groups can go either way, some people take over, or it just falls apart.

I suggested a few months ago a day put to the zoo abd although a few thought it was a good idea i did nothing about it. Friendships etc develop naturally I've met people at mng and I've made friends that way and have had nights out with them that were just nights out.

Its a pity as a single person who's majority of friends etc are coupled up would be nice to have single friends to just do normal things with

I'm afraid it's a no, this is a swing site, I'd assume most are here for a sexual reason so I don't see the point

So what happens if two people in the group get the hots for each other? Will a chastity vow be part of the induction?

There is a great app for this which allows individuals to join local organised group events as diverse as origami to hill walking to board games in a pub. I've used it when I've traveled too and provides a great way of meeting locals. It's called Meetup and might be more suitable than trying to get random fabbers to comply to being purely platonic OP.

It sounds like the antithesis of a swinger site's raison d'etre.

But libidos range on a continuum from asexuality to rampantly libidinous with the majority of people on this site inevitably being at least one standard deviation above the societal norm. That's why we're (all) here after all; social contact with the potential for that extra cherry on top!

I don't think it would work, meeting people off fab to spend time with in a non sexual way just doesn't sound right..

South Side.

There are regular munches around the country, organised by Fet members. They're meet and greet socials. Ive not noticed hook ups on the night, but they lead to great friendships, and kink themed parties.

Wasn’t there a group that used to go for hikes?

I find it bizarre that people are so against this when so many bang on about the social side of swinging.

And I’m sure the OP is not proposing an all out ban on people being attracted to each other, just that they don’t attend purely based on an opportunity to hook up.

I was in one of the hiking groups. Over a period of a few months close to 50 people joined and 40 of those left again almost as swiftly as they joined because they couldn't understand why there were no overnight stays and parties as part of the package.

The hikes were purely social but the drama created when some fabbers hooked up had to be seen to be believed. That's why I won't ever join another group of any description.

Went on one walk, 6 on the next, 3 on the next and 2 on the fourth. The group then folded

Sure 4 walks is better than none

In a group of strangers, there’s always going to be friction/drama but that doesn’t mean it can’t work.

Good luck with it OP if you decide to go ahead with it.

It could work great but it could also be a hot mess But if it did then it might be a more interesting way for people to meet without any pressure on anyone .Good luck with it op if you go ahead with the idea.

Thanks for all your views on this. As someone metioned, "munches" are very common social events in BDSM communities and these aren't sexual/hook-up events. 0I have gay friends who attend gay hiking and walking events, gay choirs, gay cycling groups, etc. So why can't there be similar types of things for swingers? In fairness, a Swinger's Choir might be going a bit far lol, but should it ever happen, The Power of Love can be our first song as a tribute to this lad! lol
