Belfast

On this very day in 1911 "Mona Lisa" was taken from the Louvre by Vincenzo Perugia.

She was rescued in 1913 and remains permanently pissed off ever since.

And despite the crowds in the louvre gathering around this painting there is still something very intimate and special about it

"I don't get it"

There's nothing to get. It's the fact of the day.

Suppose it's something to look at more so than a square on a canvas and trying to figure out what the fuk your suppose to interpretate from it

"IMHO really not worth the long queue"

Here is a tip. There is a secret entrance at the back of the Louvre that is not advertised anywhere!

I accidentally found it and there was zero queue, while everyone else queued at the front for hours.

I actually found it underwhelming when I saw it but I put this down the the hype...also all the amazing art you pass before you get there kinda takes away from it.. like a floor to ceiling painting with so much detail then you get to the A3 sized painting and it's like...oh that's nice...

Not saying size matters BTW

Clare,

Mona Lisa is painted with no eyebrows.

somewhere

Got to Paris during a general strike 2 yrs ago

Had The Louvre practically to myself as there was no transport

Spent a few hours looking around and as others have say because its so small it's a bit underwhelming when you see it first because of all the other paintings.

However when you get close its exciting to be honest
