We were discussing earlier the thread which took a little diversion regarding preferences. We all have them and, as Kenny Rogers famously said, there's someone for everyone. But do you consider how you and others express preferences? If someone expresses a preference but in doing so is insulting to another group do you view the person differently? Do you laud the person regardless for asking for what they want? Are there right & wrong ways to express truthfully held preferences? Have you encountered any shockers? Can you tell the difference?

I prefer fit, toned men.

I think when it comes to the regular Forum users, most of us "know" what's "supposed" to be tongue in cheek and who the "trolls" are when it comes to discussions over preferences on the Forum.

As for reading a profile for the first time which explicitly state certain preferences, first impressions and all that, so negativity or insults would sit with me to an extent.

But I wouldn't approach a profile off the bat where I get the impression that any kind of preferences are expressed with an "attitude" unless it comes across as an attitude with a sense of humour. But sense of humour is very subjective!

And, in fact, I think my profile text might very well fall into one or the other category, depending on your sense of humour?

I am 54yo chubby guy and not overly well endowed. When I look at a profile and I don't fit the requirements I just move on. Why create issues where none exists. I like big people women and men that's my preference doesn't suit everyone but it doesn't have too.

Everyone has they’re own preferences. If you don’t like them, move on. No amount of coercion is going help you. If anything it will go against you.

Yes this is a site that allows you to explore but you shouldn’t feel pressured to go out of your comfort zone or about what you want. That’s a decision that is up to you and everyone needs to respect each other’s preferences and boundaries.

During my younger years I would have a certain “type” and yes who doesn’t!!!

As I’m older now and more mature in my attitude towards women , you have to realise we all have bumps a bits we’d like changing.

Yes first impression are everything a nice smile , eyes contact ,dental hygiene little things you would process with out actually knowing

That's it...if someone doesn't have the ability to express their preference in a way which isn't derogatory to others whilst doing so, it colours my general opinion of them. We state our preferences clearly on our profile and for the most part people respect them so why not ? M is unfortunately sizeest as are many ladies hence the midget reference but no offence intended just a bit of tongue in cheek reality.

I remember when I was a single male here years ago I had "no bbws they do nothing for me"

Everyone has preferences but it’s more palatable to state your preferences in a positive way rather than a negative. As in “my preference is gym fit bodies” rather than “I’m not attracted to people with fat bodies”
