Hi all.

A different topic this morning.

Has anybody read "the game"

a few years ago PUAs were all the rage. Classes and all that.

Alot of the quotes were anti women as far as I could see.

Anything worthwhile for the guys who have read the book?

Know lads who were into The Game. It has spectacularly backfired on them.

To rob some internet speak, they are all angry keyboard warrior incel misogynists now.

Which is the ultimate irony as they all still see themselves as Chads.

I went down that rabbithole a few times, and the only conclusion that I could come to was that these are mostly pasty, whiny guys who have serious chips on their shouulders.

Many of them are little more than sleazy creeps who prey on vulnerable and younger women. Total assholes and sadly, people seem to think that they're worth emulating.

My advice to men would be - carry yourself with some dignity, treat people respectfully and have some respect for yourselves.

There does seem to be a lot of that to it all right.

There is.at the outset to be some nuggets of good advice.

Look after your appearance

Develop hobbies and interests.

After that it treats women as objects.i don't think it factors in that girls like sex too.

Like anything PUA can be misused. It all depends on the underlying motivation and intent.

'The Game' is not the only game in town, so to speak. There are different PUA philosophies and approaches out there. Models by Mark Manson is worth a look. He talks more about general principles of attraction as opposed to scripted material.

Mark Manson does have some very interesting thoughts and he talks quite a lot of sense.

I'm wary of any of these so-called "gurus", because after a while, it becomes clear that they're only interested in selling what they have to say.

I'd say that it's wise to be wary of anyone who packages common sense as some life changing tool and tries to sell it to you. As someone wisely said - "don't piss on my back and tell me it's raining" - there's a special room for that sort of play

It's important to be able to separate the marketing from the content. Of course, some 'gurus' do their best to obscure that distinction, so the reader needs to be on alert for that.

For many men being naturally 'good with women' isn't common sense. In my early twenties I was terrible with women, largely due to fear and insecurity.

Unfortunately, a lot of the guys who find PUA have the same issues of fear and insecurity and think that by learning a script they will have success with women. Which they think will bring them happiness and fulfilment. This can lead to them objectifying women and sex to an even greater extent than society has already taught them.

Some 'gurus' don't teach about 'inner Game', which is nothing more than personal growth work to resolve those fears and insecurities. Which in turn leads to greater happiness and fulfilment which is inherently more attractive to everyone, including the opposite sex. Some PUAs do emphasise it however.

Some guys see it as a magic formula to collect the objects of their desire, when it should be seen as a means of improving your ability to relate and connect with the women you are attracted to.

Very well put sir! I agree largely with what you're saying - it really is important to emphasise that a lot of this work needs to be grounded in personal development.

Although, as an aside - I hate the term pick up artist.

It's not really that complicated. The personal development and self help industry like the beauty industry is built on sand.

Let's tell everyone how they can improve themselves and turn into clones.

With a few simple marketing tools we can convince people to spend hours, days, weeks or months reading about what worked for one person and they can create a new persona.

A bit like asking for profile advice on fab.

The key is to throw out the bathwater but not the baby.

Haha.

Once you realise that other guys are better at things than you in life it gets easier I think.

There is better looking, more charming and probably guys that fuck better than me!

But I once I get over the intro with a girl I treat them with respect and patience and it will work out at the end.

Flirting and all that is a bit of a game but at the end of the day a big majority of girls love sex and want to have lots of it but don't necessarily want to jump into bed with every guy.

So being the best version of yourself helps them out the bluffers.

A town near you

Gift of the gab or charism along with half decent looks are what will get you noticed

2 general rules I try to live by.

1. Don't be a dick.

2. Read rule 1 again.
