I love the odd conspiracy, it's room for a fun conversation and some are worth listening too.

However...

The last few years I've seen some, if not quite a few people I know fall down the rabbit hole. Both pre and post covid.

Some are fully convinced the covid vaccine has a tracker, the new world order is upon us and 5G towers cause cancer among other things.

I find it impossible to have a decent conversation with them, if at all. It always reverts back to some conspiracy. It's quite sad in fact.

Do you guys have any experiences of someone you know going down the rabbit hole?

The Bill Gates/George Soros/Plandemic/encoded vaccines/NewWorldOrder conspiracy is getting more complex, and outlandish.

I frequently meet a guy who is convinced that there is a worldwide plan to eradicate the desire for heterosexual sex; I offered no counter-argument.

There are a number of interesting theories why the prevalence of weird and bizarre conspiracy theories is on the rise: as people become more confused by a complex and fastpaced lifestyle, over which they have limited control.

I think I’m a scary world where everything feels out of control, feeling like you have some kind of secret knowledge on what is ACTUALLY going on is weirdly comforting. I’ve seen a lot of friends fall into that hole in the last year and most of them seem pretty miserable and sad. They’ve become zero craic to be around.

I think the way science is taught and communicated has resulted in a lot of people left without the skills to critically analyse the information being fed to them.

Social media has a lot to answer for and gives a massive platform to people spouting “facts” when they have no idea what they’re talking about. Paddy Holohan, ex MMA fighter and Aisling O Loughton, ex tv presenter, are two of the most notable Irish contributors, with large social media followings, to the absolute nonsense being spouted.

I used to bump into a guy in one of the Belfast parks, who told me he believed that many of the paramilitary groups in Northern Ireland on both sided, practised cannibalism, their favourites being young children.

During the Troubles, a nber of young children did disappear without trace.

I dont think the great reset can be counted as a conspiracy theory. Klaus schwab has written a book about it and he also gave talks to the world economic forum about it. And its up on their website. What they are saying about it i dunno but just saying

I'm a fan of Those Conspiracy Guys podcast for a bit of light hearted entertainment during a long drive. I know they're not for everyone but I enjoy it.

I'm no conspirator and fully believe in Occam's razor theory, that the simplest, most obvious explanation is often the correct one. However, I have attended a Buckingham Palace garden party on a hot summers day and met Prince Andrew and can 100% confirm that he does sweat.....if our profile dissappears after this post please send help

The instruments that were specifically placed in position on the Moon's surface by Nel and Edwin aka Buzz are still being used to this day to determine the exact distance from Earth to the Moon.

The base of the Eagle lander is still visible with large telescopes.

Maybe their normal lives are dull and it's only living in make believe that brings some light in.

Guarantee the number of people leaving the forums will increase once meets start ramping up.

They may then be confronted by real meets, real people and have to expose themselves to reality, bit difficult when you live in a fantasy world.

Social media is a bit like a long, world wide garden fence. Millions of drama queens and fantasists can chat away trying to outdo each other, always in the warm glow of never actually having to see or speak to anyone in person.

I like a good conspiracy theory myself and unlike some these days I don't believe many of them. My father is heavily into reading about them as well as watching shows on them but similar to me he doesn't believe in many of (JFK being one of the ones he think is true)

Unfortunately a lot of people are getting sucked into the rabbit hole during the current pandemic, usually pushed along by some clown on social media running a grift. Majority if not all of the evidence presented is filmsy to say the least. I do always think though if this worldwide conspiracy is so secret how the fuck does someone find evidence of it on fb or Google.

Funny that you mentioned 5g and cancer. I was only speaking to a guy in Wednesday about this.

I was in a bit of a hurry but he came across as interesting and had some impressive credentials so I thought to shoot the breeze for a little bit with this guy. At fist I though, and I said to him.." bit of a conspiracy theorist there" a he then showed me his broad band router in a padded aluminium casing. I laughed and thought affs.... until he took it a radiation meter and turned it on and pointed it to the router. He then said as another little experiment asked me to take it my phone and call someone and again the meter went nuts.

He has been very very ill and turns out that it was from the radiation from sitting beside his router for hours every day but got better after encasing it in this aluminium foil box.

He proceeded to go on and say that there's scientific evidence that 5g is the reason for covid 19. It was at that point I made my pleasantries and got the hell out.

Look the guy could be a genius or a crazy a bag of rusty nails I couldn't quite figure it out but it did get me thinking... God only knows what's true out there

I hate how small the most popular conspiracies are.

Covid vaccine has nano machine tracking chips? Why would they bother? Nearly everyone is carrying their phone everywhere they go?

The conspiracy theories I do believe have some too much possibility or the ones espoused by Chomsky and the ilk, even though I wouldn't consider them conspiracies at all.

I do believe our economy and society has been changed in the last few decades to let the super wealthy take over and make normal people just part of the machine, entertaining ourselves and busying ourselves so as not to notice that we are all completely subservient to debt and stuck in a position where they can do as they please.

Financial and work insecurity is a great way to keep the people in line without them knowing, and the bonus of that is it keeps inflation down, bolstering long term investment for those who have the wealth.

Our world is being stolen, and while we've become so divided now between left and right, that's doing very little to help as its nothing more than a distraction, making the normal people hate each other instead of standing together and recognising what is happening.

The last few years I've seen some, if not quite a few people I know fall down the rabbit hole. Both pre and post covid.
