I was reading the report in regards to the Garda on trial for his romps with the famous "Carla" and the reporter and a number of comments stating it was a national outrage he got to keep his job. As a person on here i dont know what to think. What would be others opinions on this

I don't think it's a national outrage. I do think it's a bit silly to film yourself like that in a way that you can be identified, and especially in your work uniform, but it was consenting adults and no one was harmed.

I'd never heard of her or anything about this until it was discussed on here last year.

I still don't know much about the story as it didn't interest me but from what I remember the outrage was more about the collateral damage caused rather than to anyone directly involved.

The tabloids have just ran a story because the Garda in question has just had his disaplinary hearing done and has been reinstated

I don't see what the big deal is. Ye he messed up wearing his uniform but that's a far as anything wrong as such they are both consenting adults having sex.

And the woman in question already has been slated enough on here over her preferences which I actually find more off putting that anything else .

Doesnt matter if he was off duty or not. As long as you are wearing the uniform, you are an ambassador for your employer.

If on my day off I decided to film porn, or tweet some offensive shite, or anything stupid with my work badge clearly visible, I would expect to be fired on the spot. The guy is an idiot.

No idea about the details tbh but as someone said above if he was on duty its gross misconduct and should be fired. If he was off duty and using Garda resources its gross misconduct and he should be fired.

I actually met that lady in question when I worked in a hotel a few years ago. Didn't know who she was until she started telling me about herself making porn videos with guards. I thought she was messing until I googled the name she told me. Even got invited up to her room after my shift.

The garda are a absolute shambles of an organization.

Only need look at their response to that mental funeral a few weeks back.

They told the priest that they thought it best not to show up as would only aggravate the situation...

Then there was that brawl in daytime on a midweek on o connell street, took them 20 mins to show up. The one with the passer by filming and then asks them where they were when they finally show up.

If that was somewhere like Netherlands, they would be there in 30 seconds.

They complain about staffing issues yet had no issues manning the many checkpoints in lockdown.

I wasnt passing any comments about her as she is an adult and is free to have fun with whomever she wants my main reason for writing the post was to see peoples opinions about the Garda in questions court case

If he was off duty, then it's their own business.

If he was on duty well it is the same as any other job, you would be dismissed immediately for gross misconduct (unless of course you are in a country where sex workers are legal, then it is your job)
