A bit more but still being cautious until the second dose. Avoiding the gym at peak times, avoiding indoors as much as possible and being selective were I will go outdoors.

I've made it this long being sensible, I ain't going to throw it away when I'm near the finish line.

Frankly, I'm still very cautious around younger people many of whom have still not been vaccinated, and amongst whom Covid is spreading worryingly rapidly.

I am still not entirely reassured about the efficacy of the current vaccines against the emerging mutations such as Delta and Kent and other unnamed variants.

Before vaccination I am certain I had Covid in late-2019, and symptoms of long Covid thereafter, such fatigue, headaches, breathlessness, etc.

In summation, Caution is my watchword. I look forward to my Covid boosters and my winter flu jab in due course.

Despite being double vaccinated I don't see the attraction with socialising when the figures are rapidly rising again. The most adventurous recently was a cup of tea outdoors with my neighbours.

Word of warning, I'm fully vaccinated but still caught Covid and it was horrendous.

I shudder to think where I'd be if I hadn't been vaccinated

Btw because of ill family members I have been extremely cautious throughout the year yet with all my precautions I still got the shite knocked out of me!

Have to agree with this. I have a very good friend who is a supervisor at a test centre and he said around 80 to 90% of those testing positive are fully vaccinated and he said it is hitting them as hard as ever.

But how would anyone at a test centre know results or people's vaccination status. You don't get asked those questions when you go for a test and results don't go back there either.

If it is hitting people as hard as ever then why are less people in hospital and less people in ICU despite case numbers being high?

at the end of the day, socialising is a huge part of some peoples lives and great for one's mental health at times. as far as I can see covid is going nowhere and there will be new variants. just have to get on with life and leave people live theirs. if you don't want to partake in certain aspects of life, thats fine, it's your perogative.

Just spent a week in Donegal socialising with 4 others in my bubble. Most of the week was spent outdoors so easy enough to avoid crowds but the few times we ventured into a shop I was amazed at the number of people not wearing masks.

Nope. Both just double jabbed but with numbers as they are, you have to be cautious still. Last summer case numbers went through the floor, this summer through the roof. If I was vaccinated and the numbers were low then I think I'd be acting relatively normally again. Not sure when that's going to be though lol

"If numbers are so high in the summer when everybody is socialising outdoors imagine what this winter will be like when we all go back inside "

A lot of those getting infected now are in the younger age demographic of 18-34.

With a more transmissable delta variant and most of this age bracket recently having the vaccination available it's not all that much of a surprise with increased social interactions that the numbers are gping up as they are.

The real question is what % of those now testing positive for covid will end up with long covid/hospitalised/dead.

The more people that get the vaccine there will be a correlation and causation of a downward shift in those numbers against comparable numbers without the vaccine.

I do understand though why people who are not able to assess data objectively struggle with proportional risk.

Majority of the people who are still unvaccinated are people who wont be getting vaccinated. That's their choice obviously. However you wont see these people going to get tested either. Just saying. This is massively dependent on the age group.

And the majority of positive cases are in an age group that could only start registering for the vaccine since Monday.

Well able to assess data lad.. We all have freedom to make choices.. If you want to socialise that's your own business fella.. If I wasn't vaccinated I'd be keeping well away from pubs and restaurants which I know from my own area has had outbreaks recently.. I only have 1 Pfizer dose completed which by all accounts is useless.. Even fully vaccinated is only 70% efficacy.. Would you put your hand in a lions mouth?

Next few months and this winter will see many deaths of young people

"Blaming other people for someone's right to life because a person doesn't want to take vaccine or not scared to live there lives because of covid.

That blame game is sickening.... trying to put guilt on others that they are causing cases and deaths that is sickening.

Are you condoning people knowingly transmitting Covid because they can handle it and want to get on with their life?

I think you are? "

Covid is here ain't going away its endemic ... every government are treating as flu in how they are going. To give booster shots every year as new variant appears.

Waiting till the amazing 80% vaccination number so open world up...so basically they are saying knowingly that 20% will not be vaccinated but the risk is manageable deaths will be happen its inevitable but here it's compromise for economy etc... so what's the difference there...

We will never get rid of covid as we have never got rid of flu...

vaccinated or not you will always risk getting it...

We don't live in risk free world you decide yourself if ya wanna live in fear or just live with it don't blame others for your choices

We don't live in a risk free world that much is true but everyone has their own personal degree of risk aversion and should be allowed to voice their opinion without being told it's a sickening thing to say.

If someone makes an aggressive "I don't give a flying fuck" comment on here they know exactly what they are doing and that it will wind people up so the reaction had nothing to with people living their lives but more about the aggressive attitude.

"Don't care about distancing or vaccination

If I die well shit happens

That's your choice but with that attitude if you have non symptomatic covid and you pass it to a vulnerable person then you are taking away their right to life.... "

I've read further comments. I don't usually get involved in these discussions but you clearly answered on "distancing or vaccination" without clarifying.

Also, non-symptomatic Covid can be spread by both vaccinated and non-vaccinated unwittingly because well, no-one knows they have it, right?

And it is up to each individual, vulnerable or not, to make their own risk assessment on who they get close to, and who they don't.

Frankly, if nobody ever will take any risks anymore in the fear of non-symptomatic Covid, there will be no "getting close" for anybody for a very, very long time, if ever!

And your comment is exactly the kind of comment that our children are being told about, guilt tripped into being granny killers, creating a huge amount of psychological trauma.

I have a 13 year old daughter on the spectrum suffering with severe social anxiety, massively exasperated by the politics surrounding Covid. If her grandparents are happy to hug her, this should not be judged on by anybody bar those willing to hug her - but this is exactly the kind of talk, she has to listen to and internalises in this sick world we live in today!

Who said I am not respecting boundaries ... I said I don't care who comes near me that's my choice , if you don't want anyone near you then you make choices to make that happen.

Saying to someone here please stay away, if they don't respect that then you decide do I stay, leave or call authorities.

I for one will respect if ask to stay distance but I won't be made to feel guilty because I allowed people to get close to me and lived my life.

I do feel for them - they can't speak up or walk away, but on the upside they're most likely are double vaccinated so they're very much protected from any more severe symptoms.

Just shows your ignorance really, there is a high number of physically disabled people, and non verbal is the term you are looking for classing someone as a mute is very derogatory, yes vaccinated immune no, so still at risk of catching a virus that could potentially make them critically ill because of other medical conditions they have but you do you

Were getting locked down again but if the technology is in place it will be local lockdowns.

Hospitalisations and deaths will rise is Sept/Oct the only question is what will covid be called, Delta, new variant, influenza? Who knows but it's coming. The other question is who will they blame, the unvaccinated or the children.

What exactly is so hard about making sure you don’t invade other peoples space without their consent? You can sit on someone’s lap if you’re out with them and they’re ok with it but if you’re in an area where other people are, don’t be a dick and keep your distance from them.

My exact point.

I was talking about general public, but there's always one "think about such and such" who feels like they must involve every single person on this planet and their problems.

Also not sure what monstrous personal space invaders this talk is all about. Nobody is ever on my lap nor around my face unless I want them to be.

Some people mind others being a tad close to others in a queue, some don't care.

Those who mind have a choice to speak up or walk away.

Those who don't mind - also have a choice to stay.

It's really as simple as that.

Of course I don’t, I socialise with family and certain friends and don’t social distance. However, the likes of the poster saying he doesn’t care about distancing implies that he’s the type to be breathing down your neck in a queue or generally acting the complete arsehole in public spaces which is not ok.

Well I agree about people who don't respect a person's choice of personal space. Ok just your comment about people hanging around strangers is arsehole move was very general but you cleared it up as if all strangers consent to it then they aren't arseholes

"What exactly is so hard about making sure you don’t invade other peoples space without their consent? You can sit on someone’s lap if you’re out with them and they’re ok with it but if you’re in an area where other people are, don’t be a dick and keep your distance from them.

So you have no problem people socialising with other people within 2m if all consent

Of course I don’t, I socialise with family and certain friends and don’t social distance. However, the likes of the poster saying he doesn’t care about distancing implies that he’s the type to be breathing down your neck in a queue or generally acting the complete arsehole in public spaces which is not ok. "

Or maybe it indicates that he's not gonna freak out if you stand a little too close to him in a queue.

You made a choice to interpret him whichever way you please then proceeded calling him names.

Who's the complete arsehole?

I'm not sure where you got the idea that anyone is purposely invading anyone else's personal space without consent from this thread.

There was one comment made by one poster that he doesn't care about distancing or vaccination and if he dies, it's his tough luck. Agreed, this is a very blase and throw away comment which can be taken up the wrong way. But he does not state that he purposely invades or forces himself into other people's personal space! I'm sure there are people like that out there. I personally believe that the vast majority will respect anyone's personal space.

Some people are willing to take more risks with proximity than others. Those who are of sound body and mind, vulnerable or not, can make those choices too. Those in care have medical staff and carers making choices for them, for the most part taking the precautions available to them.

The amount of harmful judgement and opinion out there is what terrifies me! Because we all have fears and one person's fear surrounding the Covid crisis is not necessarily the same fear as the next person's. Yet there is no compassion for everybody's fears...it seems to all be about the sick and vulnerable. And believe me, I get it. But!

Who talks about the fears our children and youths have surrounding this, the emotional and psychological trauma caused by social distancing and mask wearing for the last 12-18 months? Where are you, parents?

Who talks about the fears of the people who have been put out of work, had to close businesses, barely able to survive because they are deemed non-essential? Falling behind in mortgage payments, worrying about how they're going to feed their children?

Who talks about the fears of those who have discovered a disease which they are unable to get treatment for or are put on an endless waiting list, exasperated by Covid restrictions? The longer it's left, the shorter the life expectancy?

It's about respect. Everybody has their opinions and boundaries and lives by their own morals and ethics, while making the occasional mistake. We're human.

Live your life as you see fit, make your choices. Leave others to make theirs.

"Word of warning, I'm fully vaccinated but still caught Covid and it was horrendous.

I shudder to think where I'd be if I hadn't been vaccinated

Btw because of ill family members I have been extremely cautious throughout the year yet with all my precautions I still got the shite knocked out of me!

Be safe folks

Have to agree with this. I have a very good friend who is a supervisor at a test centre and he said around 80 to 90% of those testing positive are fully vaccinated and he said it is hitting them as hard as ever.

Ya not sure about those figures, doesn't really match what I've read so far...

That is from the horses mouth. That is from someone who is actually there carrying out the tests and accumulating the data. What the media choose to publish could be a different story.

Can I just point out that I have my own opinions also and in no way am I disagreeing with anything that anyone says here. All I'm sharing is knowledge that I gained from the source

Not sure where your friend is getting their data or if they are getting mixed up but I work in NHS and deal with data coming through at present and that's definitely not true"

Nd this is why we are fucked ,,, a friend told me ,,, the infection rate in vaccinated people is very low ,,, I'm with foxy on this one ,,, we should turn the internet off for a while

"Don't care about distancing or vaccination

If I die well shit happens

That's your choice but with that attitude if you have non symptomatic covid and you pass it to a vulnerable person then you are taking away their right to life.... "

that's like turning around forever more and saying you can't live the one life you get to live how u want.
