Just a small point I’d make is that premiership clubs are All English but with truly international branding .. players and staff are global and perceived that way.. the English football team is literally the icon of a lot of nationalism and stirs up anti sentiments.. to me there is nothing wrong with friendly rivalry to our neighbors..

They don't live here, Ireland is not their home so forget the coming home stuff. Imo supporting a club and supporting a National team are two different stories.

Southgate seems like an absolute gentleman as do most of the team and I know a lot of nice English people who will be delighted by a win and who have gotten a much-needed boost by their team's performance. But holy God, would the English media and certain elements of fandom ever put you off wishing them well!

Agreed.. nothing personal about Southgate either.. seems grand.. just when you see the press giving Pickford 7/10 you know how delusional they are.

So uefa have just charged the English fa over their fans pointing a laser at Schmeichel during the penalty that never was.. Also on the rap sheet is booing the national anthem which imo is very disrespectful.. Their fans also booed and jeered when the German national anthem was played in previous games.. They don't deserve to win when their fans behave this way..

Id like England to win because of family reasons ...its a country that gave my extended family a chance to survive a world war and to grow old peacefully.

Pickford couldn't hit a barn door with a ball....worst kicker under pressure I've seen!! Mind you, how did Simon get a game for Spain, over De Gea? the guy has no situational awareness, the short balls around the box from him were nerve wrecking and his feet were planted into the ground, for Italy's opening goal. Spain were the better team.....Italy will be a nightmare and use every underhand trick in the book

Sure is.. he looked like a guy on last night.. watch Roy Keanes assessment on YouTube.. pundits trying to quote his stats are very good.. Roy says doesn’t matter I know he’s not a good keeper.. just look at him.. lol

But Irish people have followed English football clubs as far back as the 1920s from things I've read and travelled to games back then too. The premier league wasnt global then and the hatred of English stronger.

Personally l hope England dont win ..simple as..when it comes to soccer they have ALWAYS played the " we gave Football to the World " card ...the arrogance of English fans is unreal...yes its all nicey nicey atm but should they win ..you will see their true colours...yes they have a chance...absolutely...Italy looked tired against Spain in the semi BUT there's a unity in ITALY atm that hasnt been there in a long time..plus they had a way tougher knock out stage than England..but l always nail my colours to the Italian mast in tournaments ..they always play with such passion.l did fear at the start of last nights game that a " HOME TOWN " decision would win it for England and so it turned out...VAR was a disgrace...but thats football..and thats why anything can happen in a final

I don't understand the argument that since I support a premier league team I should support the English team.

I support Liverpool.

I spent my entire season cheering against the likes of Maguire, Sterling, Shaw, Pickford, Stones, Kane etc all so why would this situation be any different?

Would love to see Jordan Henderson holding the trophy! It's the fans though, booing other teams national anthems, laser pens, booing taking the knee. It's a minority but the minority are a shower of bastards. If england win I'll be happy, happy for Jordan and a few other players. If england lose I'll think of the annoying fans crying into their breakfast the next day and make me happy. So happy either way

No one wants to see there rivals succeed. Its not hatred just friendly rivalry. A lot would find it hard to warm to a country who caused so much harm in Ireland, ethnic cleansing. 800 years of oppression.

I had tickets to see 2 England matches a few years ago at Wembley and brought my youngest

It could have been a disaster but they were in the club section and all the people we spoke to were great when they found out we were Irish.

It was a bit weird standing for their national anthem but I did and we'd a great time.

He asked me last night who I'd be supporting and I said England ....sure why not

Being born in UK - I will support the team. Southgate has brought a breath of fresh air to the team by ejecting all the older players that thought they had a right to be picked. He selects his team on skill commitment, ability, and how the can fit and work as a unit.

I dislike the majority of English supporters as they appear to be a pretty basic bunch and will never forget the pure vandalism they caused when Ireland hosted England way back when (late 80's - early 90's maybe)

Switzerland, Luxembourg etc where ir could be in Euros too and they're not part of EU

Will never understand this. No we don't. I support Liverpool. I hoped Jordan Henderson would play well when he came on. But I hate Everton (Pickford), Man City (Walker, Stones, Sterling), Man United (Maguire, Shaw, Sancho), West Ham (Rice), Chelsea (Mount), so why would I want them to win anything?
