What’s a “genuine person”?

When I see profiles looking for a “genuine person” I’m wondering what is meant?

I never think, “Nah, I’m not a genuine person, this isn’t for me!” I doubt if there’s a person on the planet who doesn’t think they’re genuine, even if only in their oddness or eccentricity.

Is “genuine” code for boyfriend material? Does it mean “nothing kinky please”? Or simply “not crazy”?

This is a… erm, ‘genuine question’!

In all honesty who knows?? You read a profile ..think you fit and your message doesn't even get read? This place is strange at times

DD ....why would you ban discrete?

I can be discrete...... meaning I do not tell or discuss with ANY other person under any circumstance.

Well I would hope its a given here or at least should be

Some words have no meaning anymore as they are being used too much.

What is Genuine for a profile over a year old and never verified? Well i think it answers itself.

If some one are looking for genuine person, maybe they will find some but no guarantees.

Mostly what they want is someone who will turn up at a meet. But if you mention that you are genuine it does not mean they will answer your message either ...

It means they aren't like all the other men/women/couples

I'd certainly ban the word discrete because usually when it's used here what the user means is "discreet" which is a completely different thing.

It means not a fake profile, catfish, time waster etc. That they're sincerely looking to meet. Whether that's actually true or not is a different matter!

"Fake"

Now there's a word!

I've been accused of being a fake by ladies I've rejected, although I suspect its more often used by men to label women who don't want to meet them.

On a side note, I've often been told I must be a fake because of how handsome my photos look. "you can't be real if you look that good" is a regular taunt.

Got to love the introductory messages that dare you to prove that you aren't fake.

Nah, take your negging & move on

More on point to your question OP, I've noticed a correlation between having 'genuine' on their profile & not being a great conversationalist.

Disclaimer - the latter is obviously only my opinion of my interactions with them. Someone else might find them absolutely charming & delightful

I think what they mean is that they are genuine swingers who are genuinely looking for meets, and who have described themselves accurately. As opposed to tyre kickers, with 15yr old photos, who have no intention of meeting in real life.

Good sense of humour is another one. People who put that in their profile usually don't have one.

I think you prove you are an exception to that rule. I chuckled

Can't have a rule without an exception.

Suppose they're looking for someone that is genuinely looking to meet and not a bread crumber or a string a longer or a time waster ..a persons time is precious so they dont want to waste it.
