Have a couple of weeks off next month and instead of the usual foreign holiday this year we've decided to travel around. Kids are actually excited to see more of Ireland and I'm actually ashamed to say it's taken covid for me to consider travelling around Ireland. We've hired a camper van.

I guess my question would be is there any must see places in Ireland? Taking into account I'll have two kids with me. 9 and 11.

Allow me to promote the virtues of Cork... Fota, Trabolgan, Spike Island, Kinsale (fishing trips, surfing at Garrettstown beach) English Market.. Cracking good food, great pubs and good looking swingers.

I think the ring of Kerry is a must

cork: I highly recommend trabolgan or fota wildlife great for kids and grown ups

Galway: salthill is a popular place for families

Clare: bunratty castle is great and so is the food dirty Nelly's I think the place is called

If you come up north the Antrim coast is beautiful lovely places to stop and head up towards the giants causeway then on through to Donegal and the wild Atlantic way

Nothing in particular as my kids are into everything. So anything goes really. I do love Kerry. Although it's was many moons ago since I've been.

Slea Head is Kerry had a wacky museum in a house run by an American Guy

Fort Dunree in Donegal

Never knew about them until i looked up Trip Advisor

Cahir Co Tipp had a campsite on an apple farm, if you stayed a night you got a bottle of their apple juice, great wee spot, kids could play football and had tennis court too.

Yeah... Its a great place to try it and it's only a 15 min drive from Kinsale. Check out the outdoor activity centre in Oysterhaven too.. Kayaking and other activities there.

I have a camper have travelled the country with my kids .It’s the best trip you can do with them seeing all of there own country .North coast of ireland is beautiful and plenty for kids to see up around Antrim I.e gaints causeway great day out for them .Donegal another great place with beautiful beaches and golden sand .All the the way down west coast is fab and if you lucky enough to get weather you might as well be in Spain .Galway great city for them and your self to see .Best thing about camper is pick spot head for it not like it move on.Plenty of fun to be had for your self and kids .you will find it hard to find campsites this year but there is a few apps which can give you safe places to park over night .Never pull up on own always make sure another van about and also watch the road for signs of boy racers .You don’t want to be kept awake all night by some tool in car doing burnouts beside you camper .Drip me message if you want any info quite happy to give you any help for an enjoyable trip for you and family

Really depends on what activities you'd like best. Somewhere with tracks and trails for walks. Beaches. Caravan parks with kids activities. Cities. Museums and castles etc. Scenic drives and nice villages. The list is endless.

Ardmore Co. Waterford is a super spot for campervanning. Large and very popular site. Beautiful beaches watersports kayaking scenic walks. Cafes, restaurants, take aways. Easy to get to.

my son he's 24 and 7 of his mates rented out 2 camper vans and traveld all over ireland for 10 days and no paying hotels and all that pull up anywhere in the camper and off u go, great time they had. So have a look into renting a camper van.

Waterford the greenway loads of places to park campers you can hire bikes if ye dont have any and cycle along any of its 38km safe track. Then you have all the beaches tramore woodstown bonmahon stradbally clonea strand all along the copper coast. A must see is the 40ft sword carved from a tree at reginalds tower

Do the Antrim coast road, plenty of places to pull in for the night.

And as the kids like surfing there are good surf schools in Portrush and Benone beach.

Everyone has to see the giant’s causeway at some point, and Carrick-a-rede rope bridge.

West cork is beautiful. Bring the kids to the barley cove beach beside schull..

There are camping facilities there and mizen head visitors centre and light house.

The food in schuller is top notch

Sligo is a good spot. Beaches just outside the town and lpads of surfing classes too. Nice beaches too. And you have the option of traveling up north a bit too.

Gore, Dun Lewy, Bunbeg, Glenveagh National park, all beautiful, all Donegal beaches at Bunbeg look like the Bahamas, if you can just get the weather. Connemara coast quiet and unspoilt if you stay out of roundstone, the Burren for a walk, avoid Doolin over commercialised tourist trap

Depending on your destination, surfing in lahinch is always a good shout , and a day trip to the Aron islands via doolin, Connemara dogs bay incredible beach and there’s horse riding near by , hope this is useful

Has to be sligo it’s a hidden gem you will be spoiled for choice for beaches and walks, horse riding ,water sports and not the kinky kind . There loads to do here u won’t be disappointed

Rosses Point in Sligo.

Great caravan and camping site. All great views from the pitches. Lovely clean beach. Beautiful.

Great pubs and places to eat.

Deff worth a stop.

My go to spot lol.

Newry Down

Try the Cooley Peninsula north east of Dundalk, then across on the Greenore ferry to the Mournes and from there on the ferry again to the Ards Peninsula and north Down.

Beautiful route along the east coast.

It will be hard to beat Donegal but trip needs to be well planned as its such a big county and with a campervan you could use up a lot of time travelling. If you want I could do out a schedule for you for two weeks that maximises your time and gives you the best of Donegal.

Whatever you decide make it special and remember......you are creating memories and that's priceless
