Egos

We all have an Ego, whether we like it or not.

It's clear some people have a bigger ego than some (The odd complaint forum post from someone who can't get a meet)

But I think, on Fab you have to put it aside. Accept people's preferences, and they yours.

What I was getting to really is, do you think Fab affected your Ego in any way? Or how you thought of yourself in general.

Personally, not much. Im aware it's not a place to be sensitive, and my interactions with people have being overwhelmingly positive regardless.

Anyways, I'm interested in your takes on this.

Happy Friday!

It did my confidence the world of good. I was convinced I was overweight and unattractive and used to hide my ass under long tops and awful outfits. After a couple of meets, and getting highly appreciative comments from FBs and the most unlikely sources, I’ve gained a lot of body confidence. Tight jeans and leggins are common place now.

Is that ego?

My self-worth isn't predicated on the willingness of strangers to have sex with me, fab compliments are ten-a-penny.

That's great to hear if I'm honest red, I think that's confidence (and you deserve to be confident!)

Everyone should be comfortable in their own skin

Yes we all have an ego to some degree of other but some are more easily bruised than others.

I treat people as equals and if they aren't capable of doing likewise then we won't have anything in common.

I'm much more confident and have greater self esteem since joining fab but that's through personal experience rather than having my ego massaged or smoke blown up my arse.

A well known former fabber used to have major issues with the fact that I didn't acknowledge him publicly in the forums but if he knew anything about me at all he should have known he was barking up the wrong tree.

" Or how you thought of yourself in general.

"

It has definitely made me think about myself, but not from an ego aspect. It has made me think about what I want from life on the sex side of things, or how would a truly happy sex life actually look and what would it entail.

For a long time I assumed monogamy and all the usual trappings of a relationship, as that's often how people are programmed to think.

Being on fab, and other places, has opened my eyes to alternatives and how would those alternatives fit.

My opinion on myself has stayed the same regardless of the good or the bad I hear about me on this site! I've said it before numerous times... I take everything people say to me (weather it be good or bad) with a pinch of salt!!

Has it affected our egos? No it hasn't. Have seen it affect other people's egos to ridiculous heights though even to the extent of them believing their own gimmicks.

FAB has, for the most part, shot my confidence to pieces. But…

What’s interesting - for me at least - is when I hung around on other well known “dating apps” (that buzz around or set light to things), the reception I got was completely different. Perhaps an age thing, but on dating apps I’m seen as secure, balanced, appealing generally. It’s just a shame everyone has a checklist and a life master-plan that they want you to conform to one day one: coffee meet.

On FAB I appear to have very little appeal at all. Or rather I have low bandwidth appeal? Not sure they makes sense. Maybe that’s perhaps just because I get lost in the “noise” of 10,000 other men on FAB? A bit like the song of a nightingale being drowned out by the cawing of a 1,000 Crows. Or maybe I’m just a bellend ? Lol.

This is no complaint, by the way, and the little appeal that I do seem to have for some, I am enormously grateful for, and I massively value the connections I’ve made.

I should say thanks again to those who’ve placed faith in me and given me a chance

Safe weekend all

X

It’s interesting that you say this. I think most females/couples will talk about their ego/confidence being affected (or not) in terms of what other people say to you. Whereas most guys will make that assessment based on the level of engagement (none some plenty).

I'd say mine is unchanged by Fab. Whilst our time here has increased my sexual awareness and has encouraged me to not be afraid to ask for what I want, I still swing between confidence and crippling self-doubt which has always been the norm for me.

I don't think I've an ego, what you get is what you see, I have a heart of gold and at times I'm too nice for my own good.

As for confidence on here fab has boosted it a bit but I take compliments on here with a pinch of salt and I try to take the insults with the sane pinch of salt.

Everyone has an ego . By definition ego translates = I . Everyone has a „ME“. Not everyone is able to accept ones own „Me/I“ as it is . That may was/is caused by childhood , rejections incurred and of course the indoctrination of media what makes a successful man/woman . The societal bar set to achieve. Until you see through the bullshit and return to your own ego . That I would think it is a process of maturing and not an effect of FAB

Somewhere in Co. Down

I don't have an ego at all I know I am just a normal 48 year old woman .

I do think tho fab had helped me regain some of the confidence I had when I was younger but seemed to lose somewhere along the way.Fab has made me realise that it's okay to have kinks and enjoy them and to meet people who enjoy exploring those with me.

I've met some amazing people while I've been on here some have become good friends outside of here as well. But I don't think any of it has ever given me an ego but it's an interesting place to see others opinions and preferences and yes it's handy to perv on some of the very sexy men on here as well .

If your ego is writing cheques that your body cash , it needs checking.

Take that literally or figuratively.

An Ego is a very dangerous item, simple as,it usually accompanies an arrogant , condesending, pompous, obnoxious person...male or female..best avoided on all counts...but the sad part is you have to experience time with that person before you see or realize it.

That's more of an over inflated ego which can only exist if others massage it. Sooner or later someone will stick a pin in it.

I think an Ego is an Ego regardless if someone massages it or not...an Egolist doesnt need anyone to masssage it ..they do that themselves...if they were a bar of chocolate they'd eat themselves..and the main letter or word they constantly use in talking is " I "...

A few people are misunderstanding the word ego here. We all have them. Its your conscious mind (as opposed to your subconscious) and means your sense of "I" or "self". The word ego is Latin for "I' but was popularised by Freud in his work on understanding human psychology.

Jeez, real sorry to hear that Mrs., hope you're doing ok now and your confidence is back . ...no one in this joint should have that happen to them , no one's fun and enjoyment and confidence should be harmed or destroyed by anyone else.
