Ireland is to apply to this EU fund to subsidise costs." If you want to travel abroad you need a pcr test, those cheap lidl ones won't do the job.

" That’s correct DH, I just had my first trip to Europe since November, using French port as entry point . PCR test did cost EUR 135 . Have to pay another 125 for the homebound PCR. So if you travel under current regime you need to add EUR 250 per trip and person . If you move inside Europe by car, no OCR required to cross the border . However each country has its own restrictions when checking into a hotel

" Getting over to the UK no pcr required as far as I know however if you wish to come back to Ireland you need a pcr to get onto the ferry and you need to quarantine when in Ireland.

"Hopefully this mess will get better for travel in the EU with the vaccination pass coming along, not sure what UK is planning on doing" Probably not . Even though that are easing of restrictions most EU countries have extended there emergency powers , hence the status quo of emergency is still applicable, hence quarantines and test jazz can be reintroduced at will . Since all vaccines are only under emergency or conditional approval as none has an appropriate clinical study level 3 , this will not change until either the vaccines have ordinary approval or the collateral damage the vaccine incurred is that high that all countries discontinue their vaccination campaigns ( as did happen with AZ in some countries . The studies are to end and provide results 2022 and 2023. All currently vaccinated are practically participants of this study .
