Body type and peoples definitions!

Reading through profiles recently and it seems that the bios are out of sync with the description of the body type and the actual most recent photo of the person in question.I know from speaking with others that the height stated on the bio can be incorrect also. Now i understand that body shapes can vary slightly but the height should never really change.I have had a number of meets and this has been my experience too.Just wondering what peoples experiences are?

I don't concern myself with how people describe themselves and a woman's height certainly isn't a deal-breaker.

Some people will lie about their age + height. To be honest some people will lie about almost anything.

As for the bodytype definitions well they are for some strange reason compulsory to put, not everyone is comfortable with defining their body types especially in the options given.

And everyone will have a different definition of what each descriptor looks like to them.

Best to just ignore the words and see if you like the look of the person for yourself

I picked the athletic option because I was fed up referring to myself as average but anyone who has met me may have a different opinion and I've no issue with that.

A lot of people aren't comfortable with their reality - age, height, relationship status, body type.

Yeah I didn't even know what I'd picked til I checked now. It's down as athletic, maybe slim is better suited. I don't know... if you have clear enough pics it should be pretty irrelevant, not sure why it's mandatory to have up.

I wouldn't say people lie more like false advertising. That's with pretty much everything including usernames. The amount of times I've seen a username and thought 'oh hello' then when I have a look it's not what the name is far from what the folk are. Sexy, hot, milf, adventurous, oh amd couple seems to be the main one. As for body types we'll that a whole new level of false advertising

Plenty fudge their profiles from height, body shape and age even location. I've met guys who have lied about their height and age but it didn't matter that much as they were nice guys anyway.

If you can see from the photos what a person's body type is, does it really matter what descriptor they've chosen?

Somewhere in Co. Down

You get a good indicator from pics what their body type it like if the pics are recent pics.

Yes I've met People who lied about their size, their pics were years out of date and their height also I was taller than them when wearing heels and I am only 5'2" so he definitely wasn't the height he claimed to be.I've met guys who were way older than they said as well it's fab it happens .And usually it stayed as just a social meet as well but that's fab it happens.

I have average down because I had to pick a body type I'm not slim I'm a size 16/18 at present and it seems no matter what I pick I get told I'm not that by people I had curvy I had fabulous so in the end I picked average cos that's what I see myself as just an average 48 year old woman on here. There was no option for overweight and a shortass

Now I hope the person is telling the truth before we meet and it's always nice when they are when they aren't then it usually stops at a coffee.

If they lied about their height and age I wouldn’t consider them nice guys , I’d be mad they wasted my time . Especially the height issue As Im a tall woman And I Do prefer men taller than myself .

There would be no sympathy shag for turning up and being 6 inches shorter than expected

Have to agree, height is one of my preferences when it comes to attraction, if I decide to meet a shorter man, that's my choice. Plus being lied to just gets on my tits.

I agree! I don't particularly relate to any of the current options particularly, I'm more than "curvy", "ample" is probably most accurate but isn't a very appealing description!! And "fabulous" feels kind of trite and cheesy.

Lots of folks lie about height, age, status, etc because they know people have certain preferences. I find it incredibly irritating, people are allowed to have preferences and it's frustrating to have someone ignore your basic boundaries because they personally feel they don't matter.

I can never understand the height thing. Why would you lie about it..it will be pretty apparent when you meet..

As a tall woman (6ft in heels) people especially guys are shocked at how tall I am...it does say 5ft 10 on the profile

As for body shape/size everyone has a preference and if the pics are recent you get a fair idea

Over the years I don't think I have ever had a really bad experience after meeting someone in person..maybe I have been very lucky!

I understand people may have been on the site for years and are proud of that fact but when I used to browse profiles I was amazed at the number of people displaying pics taken 6, 8 or 10 years previously.

As I said in another related thread I know of someone who had a fab age of 55 in 2018 when I was in a chat group with him. He admitted his actual age was 58 which makes him 61 now but yet his profile age is now 50?

I haven't lied about anything on my profile. I am 5'1, 28, and curvy. No point in lying because I'm just setting everyone up for disappointment if I do.

But I have noticed other people clearly lying especially about height and being curvy. In my opinion curvy means hourglass not being overweight. If you lose weight and lose your curves then you were never curvy. I think it just makes bigger girls feel better about themselves.

I don't care too much about people lying about height as long as it's only an inch or two and they are still taller than me haha

Thank you for being so honest, it's refreshing. Its clear by your pics that you most definitely fall into the definition of curvy.

Exactly bloody labels

I see people using curvy and I think they are skinny but my opinion on their shape/ size doesn't matter to me unless I'm meeting with them.

I "have" fat just like I "have" blonde hair, I am pretty clear about my size when I chat to someone on here, dont think my photos hide size.

But at the end of the day its the person I like not their size or whether they curvy or not.

I see plenty using athletic but might look like an athlete! When I was training I could deadlift 70kg but still carried weight.

I have curves, a lot of them! I am fat but that’s not an option on fab so I now have large down in case my very curvy body offends anyone

It’s ridiculous that you have to choose a body type at all but pointless discussing it unless you’re going to ask fab admin to change the options.

All my life I weighed 12 stone and was told that was the average weight for men my height. 17 years ago due to a severe illness my weight went up to 13½ stone. Still classed as average.

I'm now at 11½ so does that class me as athletic? Probably not because I've never been an athlete. I don't run and never have done, I don't go to the gym or workout. My only exercise is hillwalking and nothing more.

I still fall within that average weight spread for men my height but if fab has taught me anything it's not to sell myself short so I chose the athletic option because I can and no other reason.

The problem with those fab descriptions of body type is that some refer to body weight and some to shape and some to physical fitness. So it's apples and pears and a football mixed together and actually not comparable.

I'd argue almost every woman has curves unless you're unhealthily thin.

Anyhow who cares as long as you're happy with yourself?

Reading this is exactly why the option should be removed .

What is worse is people slating others and telling them they can't see themselves as a certain body type because their hips or boobs or stomach are too big And people feeling the need to change what they pick due to getting grief over it is not right. And yes I am one of the people who has changed theirs numerous times because no matter what option I choose I was wrong seemingly so now I'll stick with average . And this isn't just about women on here men get grief as well over it.

I think people should worry less about what others have on their profiles.Unless you are planning on meeting the person then it is bugger all to do with you how people describe themselves .It's no wonder people lose confidence on here no matter what you do people are ready to nit pick every detail to find something they can pull others on.

"I haven't lied about anything on my profile.

Hourglass is the ideal curvy shape, if your waist is wider than your hips and your shaped like an apple or pear you are not curvy.

A pear is hips wider than waist so by your own definition is curvy.

What creates curves is literally fat... it's nonsensical to say that big hips and breasts count as curves but a round belly doesn't.

Also, GOD FORBID bigger girls feel good about themselves, we can't have that!!! In your outrage you haven't even got the respect to see that I quite clearly made a mistake typing and forgot to mention boobs.

Why do you think I referred to the two fruits and hourglass? So just to be clear waist should be smaller than both boobs and hips.

Theres numerous definitions available if you care to look. Start with any of the online dictionaries.

I don't owe someone who has no respect for people who look like me any respect - this isn't the first fat hating post you've had on the forums.

Apologies however for reading what you wrote and not your mind for what you "meant". "

How on earth is it fat hating? Its got nothing to do with that. You can be a very large dress size and be curvy.

Its a practical definition and my issue is simply with the use of it. Its completely inaccurate and unfair on the ladies on here who are curvy. Its got nothing to do with people being fat.

Go ahead a choose whatever agenda you want too to make yourself feel good about how awesome you are.

Also, let me add. I was actually fat shamed at an event in 2018 but you dont want to hear about that.

"

I was given out to for saying curvy by a beer bellied guy who claimed he was athletic...

Beer bellied guys can be athletic tho. That's my point. Athletic is a behaviour, not a look. The categories themselves are totally fucked. "

this is actually hilarious you mentioned this before and got slammed for it

Athletic is a body type but again choose to ignore the facts.

"I wouldn't say people lie more like false advertising. That's with pretty much everything including usernames. The amount of times I've seen a username and thought 'oh hello' then when I have a look it's not what the name is far from what the folk are. Sexy, hot, milf, adventurous, oh amd couple seems to be the main one. As for body types we'll that a whole new level of false advertising "

I would just like to clear something up... I am not an actual Bee or a Queen.. I'm more of a princess tbf but I like to think big.

"Reading this is exactly why the option should be removed .

Thats a terrible thing to happen.

I'm just wondering if that experience would make you reconsider how you approach others about how they describe/see themselves. As the intent of telling someone that how they describe/see themselves is wrong may not be the same but the outcome certainly can be.

At the end of the day Curvy is a subjective term. It has no one definition. Yours isn't wrong but neither is anyone else's, I posted the Oxford dictionaries definition above. And I'm sure we could find 20 others with different views I we tried.

It's not a medical or scientific term like say ectomorph, mesomorph, and endomorph.

Is your commitment to your definition of the work really worth the risk of harming someone else's self image and confidence? Albeit unintentionally prehaps

Your joking right, about being fat shamed WTF100 % true more than one person heard her, we all had our tops off and a certain single lady commented on my physique at the time.

But its ok, I am supposed to be a fat shamer. Theres a green tick beside my profile helps you go back and look at previous posts to see my comments."

Shame the thread history doesn't go back far enough. But then again, that's when the notes function comes into its own. Maybe rethinking your words and tone might help. You have form a-plenty for being derogatory about people being overweight and fat-shaming. Perhaps you don't even realise you do it. Or maybe you do and just see it as telling it like it is
