You can carry on beyond the boardwalk to the summit and come down the other side but you'd still have to come back unless you had a car at either side

Yep, simple as that, after you admire the magnificent views of course.

From the actual summit which is slightly farther on, you can see Leitrim Fermanagh, Cavan, Leitrim, Donegal, Tyrone, Leitrim, and some other less interesting ones such as Sligo, Monaghan, Meath,Longford, and possibly others. Leitrim can be seen as well. You're only a couple of miles from Blacklion and Neven Maguire's place of you had booked it the previous year. The Customs Post restaurant across the bridge in Belcoo is a good shout for anyone that didn't have that level of foresight.

They've been discouraging people from doing that for the last couple of years due to damage from the level of pedestrian traffic. The best view of Leitrim is from the summit alright.
