An intrusive thought is basically an abnormal impulsive thought that comes out of nowhere.

Everyone gets them and their entirely normal.

For example, your walking on a bridge and, out of nowhere you get a thought stuck in your head to jump off.

They are most likely negative, hence why we notice them.

Is that like having to suppress the urge to flash my tits during a really serious work call?

Dublin

careful now! you could be doing some mansplaining there, and that is a big no no and generally frowned upon!

I am not sure it qualifies as intrusive if you have such thoughts all the time, non stop, in an everlasting Warner Bros style cartoon playig out in front of your eyes, eventually some real-life, serious thought making its way through...

or maybe thats the one thats intrusive...

Yeah but you have an alternative, whip out your tits, or slap

somewhere

I know what you mean about the intrusive thoughts and admit to having them every now and then

The bridge one has happened to me and sometimes I'm up on a very large steel structure and think it'll be all over if I open the harness and drop....I'm not thinking of suicide just wondering how I'd feel if I did it

I sometimes... no no all the time have an uncontrollable urge to slab a woman's ass as she walks past me and I really have to control myself since it wouldn't look good turning up to work with 2 black eyes

Occasionally. The strongest ever was a very long time ago now. Whilst driving down a steep hill that had a wall and t-junction at the bottom, the urge to accelerate and keep driving straight was so strong. I also have occasional thoughts of just walking out of the house and never coming back. I don't recall ever having experienced a positive intrusive thought
