Over many years of walking, I have compiled a repertoire of locations, each with their own ambience and vista, that bring me to a different state of mind; calmness, peacefulness and serenity.

Love the beach being in the water for a swim and then hiding out in the dunes away from the wind but captures all the sun. Hearing the waves crashing on the shoreline and then the grumpy cracking off the stones as the water recedes back, then 10 seconds silence and it starts all over again.

Try St Brigids Well just outside kildare town, pretty chilled, little flowing stream and a pagan wishing well...

I prefer an old forest myself

It depends on why I need a timeout.

A walk in a forest to clear my head, on the beach to blow away the negative stuff and a bath to just chill out.

There’s a spot up the Comeragh mountains down here I go to. It’s a derelict farm house from the 17-1800s with a stream running next to it. It’s a bit of a hike to get to it as it’s right on the mountainside. But it’s so peaceful and you can see as far as the sea from it. You could spend hours there. And rarely anyone around either.

I really enjoy setting up my bird hide in a forest set up my camera and chair then sit back and see if anything shows up that I can photograph, if nothing shows up not to worry it was a great few hours relaxing. Or out on my bike with nothing in my head its a great way to clear the head.
