Morning All,

Hope you have a positive and bright start to the week to set you all up in good spirits!

So just curious to see everyone's opinions.. and although a Mens thread, women's opinions and commentary are very much valued, as lets "face" it (see what i did there.. ay.. ayy?

) they tend to have the better expertise in these fields lol

So over the weekend i was looking into changing up my skin routine, change in weather and all it gets impacted differently... so what are all of yer go to's?

I think ive landed on cleanser... exofoliant(twice a week)... toner.. serum then moisturise & maybe a mask once a week

May seem like alot to some lads, but trust me your skin and future ladies will thank you for it!

I myself suffer a little from dry skin (so micellar water for cleanser use & toner once a day max are quite important to protect natural oils)

**disclaimer- very important to know your skin type lads.. method is the same, however product and application usually has to change**

Until recently when i was chatting to a female friend of mine i was fairly naive on the use of SPF everyday to protect from UV damage (ages the skin) and am curious to see how many men here use that as part of their routine... it definitely got me thinking!

Then there is specialised night moisturiser which is said to be a game changer!

So just looking for opinions and discussions and the like... why not share our knowledge!

I mean I just want to be the prettiest version of me for my lady counterparts

The amount of effort women put in for us.. its well overdue that men start pulling their weight for them too! (And this is only a starting point)

And be nice!! I've avoided the forums the last few weeks due to the behaviour ive witnessed.. it gets childish, argumentative and quite pathetic... and by God I just won't stand for it!!

(Btw if you ignore this warning.. no amount of skin care will help cover up the ugliness of words and you'll be forever blemished)

I find micellar water very harsh on skin, I prefer a more soothing foaming cleanser, CeraVe, Inkey List Pat Balm etc.

Now, thats what I call taking care of yourself. I've never bothered too much about my facial appearance. I shave in cold water, so that takes care of that!. After a lifetime of exposure to very hot climates, very cold climates, and Irish weather I'm doing OK. I think i have this unshakeable belief that I'm handsome and don't need to put anything on my skin. My diet is important, though, as what I eat or drink is reflected in my face and body, so I don't eat rubbish, and this last year has been great.. No takeaways, mainly my own organic food from the garden.

Ahh OP, where has your manliness gone? Go out to the bog and find a big pool of water, dive in and grab handfuls of stinkin wet peat rub it into ya boy. Then grab a handful of nettles to dry yourself. Thats cleansing 101 the culchie way. Oh and a spot of cowdung behind each ear if you are going on the pull

Why do men think it’s not manly to look after your skin. I know plenty of men in my time that care of there skin. So a bit of water on the face is as far as it goes......you care about your hair On your head your growing beards (if you have any ) but god forbid putting on a moisturiser or even some form of cream with sun protector on which we all should be doing regardless of the season

... Well said.. Spending hours preening yourself might be a bit excessive but a bit of effort to look halfway daycent goes a long way with the ladies. In fairness the vast majority of men have moved on from the caveman days of riding your dinosaur down to the river and shaving with a rock..

Get a grip with your ideas of 'manliness' some of you guys

I also agree with OP SPF factor moisturiser definitely if you are outdoors a lot.

OP, if you have dry skin, I’d cut out the micellar water. It’s not the best thing to use as the ingredients can be harsh and drying on skin.

Try a gentle foaming cleanser instead. No7 have a good range.

Try a hyaluronic acid before your moisturiser. It’ll make a huge difference to the amount of moisture your skin will hold.

Is your skin definitely dry? It could just be dehydrated and people often confuse one for the other. Try increasing the amount of water you drink and see if it helps. It will help to hydrate your skin from the inside out.

Always double cleanse at night and use a night cream.

Remember to use an SPF of at least 30 on your face.

I moisturise like 3 times a week cause I feel like it's time consuming. I rub it on roughly and even around the eyes so not even doing it right. I almost always use suncream on my face if theres any hint of sun though. My face gets exfoliate in the shower with body wash and a scrubber haha. My skin is actually fair fresh but that's not from products it's from not drinking and smoking in my opinion.

drinking water hydrates the skin so much and moisturising helps with dry skin nothing nice seeing and feeling a face being exfoliated with cream that helps plumps the face with massage will doing it

Used to sit on this one guys face a lot: felt bad for all the lovely abuse his poor face went through.. I got him some Clinique for men stuff. A baby’s bum has nothing on him now. Splash of Dior Savauge and he’s the business. Look after your skin lads, my vagina will thank you for it.

I should clarify.. that regime is what i plan to move onto. It also wouldn't take as long as you think 10 mins maybe twice a day?

SPF is actually more important here than hotter climates.. ireland has a weaker Ozone above it hence higher UV filtration.. its why you see the lobsters walking around as soon as we hit 16 degrees.. its not yhe heat haha

I just admit too fellas... i have be known to cry on occasion.. do i have to turn in my man card? Lol

I started home microneedling about a year ago and it has worked wonders. Helps makeup sit nicer on the skin as well. I don't think it's for you OP though.

I haven't read the other comments but think a simple face wash and light moisturiser would be enough at your tender years, OP

I went for a run last week and came back looking like an orange that had been in a microwave for an hour.. And it's only April... The auld suncream is a good bet to prevent yourself looking like a battered oil can

If you are washing your face every day (...which all men are, RIGHT? if not, God help us), adding skincare doesn't take much time at all.

My routine is ...

Morning:

Cleanse with micellar water

Rose water spray toner

Serum (The Ordinary Buffet is my favourite)

Moisturiser with SPF (Currently using Avene Antirougers)

Evening:

Cleanse with a cleansing balm (Trilogy Rose balm at the mo)

Second cleanse with micellar water

Rose water toner

Serum

Eye cream (The Ordinary Caffeine Serum right now)

Rosehip / Hemp oil (+ gua sha if I can be arsed)

I try to space out the steps to allow the products to settle, especially in the evening when I have time, but otherwise it takes 5 mins and makes a HUGE difference to my skin.

If you want a simple, quick routine, get yourself the Skingredients Core 4 range. They’re even numbered so you’ll know what order to put them on.

Double cleanse morning and evening, wear spf every single day and you’ll see a massive difference.

If you’re using cleansers, serums etc and not using spf you’re pouring your money down the drain.

I rinse my face with clean water

I dry my face with a towel.

Serum and moisturizer? Mask once a week? Wow... I mask my face here and there or if I’ve the energy and can be bothered.

Nobody has ever “thanked” me for my skin care routine and I put enough effort in as a male.

I only exfoliate 2-3 times per week with a scrub. I do tone and moisturize however as part of my regular routine.

I aim to use a mask twice per month if I remember.

I’m not working at the moment. So, I don’t give myself as much attention as I used to.

Haven't used soap on my face in 20 years.

Use a cleanser a couple of times a week and spf 20 suncream every day but that gets bumped to spf 50 when in the mountains.
