Anyone dared risk this recently? Curious about what your experience(s) with the Garda were like.

somewhere

As in did you get stopped heading to the airport because the gardai dont operate abroad

I dropped family going home to Spain on Friday to the airport

No checkpoints at the airport,no checkpoints in the airport and the first time they were asked for their negative test was at the Ryanair desk waiting to get on the plane

The plane was full of people going on holidays

I've heard alot on this alright! But I know a mate of mine moved to Switzerland about 2 weeks ago with his job & he said different altogether. Checkpoints going to the airport, going into the airport, negative test before security. So it seems some days they're all about it & other days they're not?

They weren't allowed to fly. In fairness they live in Northern Ireland and flying on British passports so that might have some bearing on it because they were trying to circumvent the restrictions. They were going to Turkey for boob jobs

Yea I’m fairly sure you can’t be stopped flying - you’re breaking the law - but the penalty for breaking it is a fine, not being stopped going. So it must have been other issues

There have been hundreds of women going to Turkey for cosmetic surgery and teeth work since this time last year. I know of about 10 girls going next week or two

Risky shit too as the quality of work would be horrific

Know somebody who flew out on holidays to Spain over a month ago.. He said he made it into the airport just as the guards were setting up the checkpoint and when he came home he didn't meet any checkpoint.. This was just before hotel quarantine came in though.. Easy way to get around that is get a flight out of Belfast and return through Belfast then just drive across the border no 1500 euro 2 week hotel quarantine needed..

Visitors to, and returnees from, every destination abroad should be quarantined, otherwise the integrated Covid-19 strategy will not work!

I wouldn’t disagree with this. But I would add a qualification- I wonder at what stage people won’t be thought of as cunts by travelling abroad for non essential reasons

because I don't see it for a long time. id say they'd hope to keep it until everyone is vaccinated but then everyone won't take the vaccination.

id say there is many like that. i don't think the UK is on the mandatory quarantine list either. Good chance he has been vaccinated also been in the UK. i don't know how long they'll keep non essential travel ban though as many many around won't be vaccinated so remains to be seen what happens.

I saw a group had a house party last night. guards were called but no fines given. gave the group 30 minutes to finish up. I think many people won't go abroad either for having to quarantine when there back. I don't think going on hols is worth it to having 2 isolate for 14 days on return.

A girl I know travelled about two weeks ago to South America. Said she wasn't even stopped.

Someone else I know flew into Knock from the UK. They didn't even ask to see her test or anything at all for that matter. Honestly not sure what they're doing.

The UK isn’t on the quarantine list but what you are required to have is a negative PCR test on arrival

Either is Spain. All of South America is. There are 71 countries currently on it I think

All irrelevant!

Pilots and, possibly but not sure, cabin crew, are flying and they don't even need a PCR test.

They are flying all over the world and no tests.

Kind of a gap in protocol methinks.

This from a pilot mate yesterday who had flown to US and back so not bs.
