Why is it that juices are now seen as the best thing since sliced bread and smoothies are demonised? At least smoothies still contain the fibre from the fruit

Important questions for a Sunday morning

By who where? Depends who you ask. Always a devils advocate approach isn’t there? E.g Juices still contain loads of sugars, as do smoothies.

Depends on the juice really. Celery or carrot+apple+celery+ginger are great and don't contain that much sugar, unlike, lets say Orange Juice. But we still need simple sugars to provide cells with energy.

Because our society is incredibly fucked up about food!

If you're on a low fat diet, the juice would be the better choice. If you were doing keto, the smoothie would be. If you're cutting sugar you can't have either.

Just have a grilled chicken breast instead

A balanced diet is probably the best all round. Safe and simple.

I'm obviously thick. What is the difference between a smoothie and a juice?

I think with smoothies you get the extra fibre from the pulp so it’s more filling/ slightly more healthy.

But all depends what you’re juicing/smoothie-ing, an all fruit juice or smoothie would have roughly the same amount of sugar as a can of Coke

I think a smoothie has more fibre and a thicker consistency. Juice filters out all of the pulp which contains the fibre. I think Juice also has a higher sugar content .

I don’t drink coffee or tea that’s why I was thinking about smoothies

A smoothie is everything whacked into a blender. A juice is in a juicer so you lose all the pulp and fibre.

Smoothies often contain frozen yogurt but not always. Sometimes just frozen fruit to give the thicker consistency

A smoothie usually has milk, OJ or yoghurt as a base. A juice is just fruit.

Smoothies that are made at home are excellent (in moderation); have you considered Apple Cider Vinegar, particularly the better quality brands that contain the 'mother' that necessitates the bottle being vigorously shaken before dilution. Very tasty, and good for digestion.

I do take it every day but I wouldn't call it tasty

Sure too much of anything is bad for you and I've notice the so called healthy food is more expensive than the junk food that makes tons of sense
