So tomorrow is my last day of shiftwork after 5 years working it. No more nights/weekends/Bank holidays/xmas/new years.

These last few months I've worked all of xmas, new years and Easter.

So any tips on how to get a good sleep pattern etc and adjust to normal Monday to Friday

It will take a few weeks for your body to get used to it. Just be strict with your routine - same set bedtime every evening, no screens 1hr before or in the bedroom, no caffeine in the evenings. If I'm struggling to sleep I find white noise, sleep music or meditation helps.

If you can get your hands on some melatonin it's fantastic for resetting your body clock.

Thanks haveb been using the calm app but it didn't work on my nights. Will definitely pick up melatonin. Looking forward to having energy to exercise too

I think it will come naturally DD

It’s much easier to sleep when it gets dark and be awake when it’s bright

You’ll adjust fairly quickly then you can concentrate on enjoying it

What's a Monday to friday job?

I've never had one.

Doing shift work the past 24years.. granted it's not for everyone but getting used to any pattern, means eating healthy, getting fresh air and exercise.

Being able to switch off helps, as does melatonin. No prescription needed either..

Enjoy it DD

I think you should go for a walk on a beach ...sea air is good for sleep that night

The Road to Nowhere

Hey DD! I found having a routine helped. So finish work, get the dinner on, walk/work out. Set bed time every night & no screens etc. I done this for a few weeks after coming off 12 hour shift rotation until my body click righted itself

Congratulations DD and best wishes for your next chapter. I’m looking forward to finishing shift work in 9 years time. I’ve 23 done so far. Hell knows if I’ll ever get a “normal” sleep pattern!
