I have had my first jab with minimal adverse effects; it has been reported that the second vaccine causes a significantly more adverse effect.

Is the second vaccine the same as the first or does it have different constituents, or is it a much more potent formulation?

I have to travel 38 miles to Belfast for my second, and I am concerned; should I travel by car or by public transport.

And you neglected to ask these questions at your 1st visit why?

There was not the opportunity to ask questions at the first session; one was passed from one stage to the next with dozens of people in front of me and possibly one hundred behind me.

Furthermore, the system had not properly registered my appointment; they facilitated me, and I did not want to make a fuss!

Some people have reported that the second jab hits harder, for some it doesn’t. The two doses are identical but given that your body has already been primed to fight by the first dose, I would suspect that increased (albeit minor) side effects after the second could be due to your body going hell for leather doing what it’s been trained to do.

If you’re concerned about travelling home after, for peace of mind you might be best getting a lift. It’s unlikely that the tiredness/nauseous feeling that some have reported will kick in immediately though.

The studies found that the first vaccine only only generated a weak response to the virus. The second vaccine generates a stronger Immune response. The first starts the building process of a protection response to the virus. The second one reinforces it.

If you didn’t have an adverse reaction to the first one chances are you won’t for the second. It’s been reported that you would only have a reaction of you’ve had Covid in the past. I drove myself to and from both jabs and was fine but it’s up to you.

At a building within the RVH complex that was not especially well signposted, but I managed to find the entrance near the Donegall Road.

I thought I had registered properly for an early appointment and deliberately arrived even earlier.

It immediately became clear the online system had not actually registered my name, and because I had arrived very early the computer operator though I was a member of staff.

The system in the centre was well organised, but exceptionally busy. Their was a mix of public appointments for their first vaccinations and NHS staff in uniform who appeared to be receiving their second. The latter were whisked through much faster than the public.

At the end I exited through a door through which I could not return and was happy to have been vaccinated, but later I was concerned when I heard that the second vaccination can cause a more severe reaction.

I have no complaints, but I met a couple in a forest park today who queried whether the second vaccination was the same formulation as the first, or whether it is larger or more potent.

One of the couple is currently receiving chemotherapy.

I hope this answers your query.

Best bet is to ring your gp to discuss your concerns rather than seeking reassurance on a swingers forum. You’ll get all sorts of conflicting info on the internet

You're correct. It is not an especially crucial issue, but there appear to be a significant number of health service staff on this site who can answer generic queries.

Furthermore, my GP is difficult to contact; I suspect he may have retired!
