Nearly not safe to share face pics anymore

Recently iv seen videos and screenshot of face pics in messages from here sent to me via what's app. And a couple of the screen shots were messages to couples profiles that are well verified on here. Iv often sent my face pic but I'm starting to think it's not worth it anymore as I don't want to be sent around what's app anyone see them going around.

We came to that conclusion a long time ago. We're quite happy to meet someone for a social meet without exchanging face pics, anyone not happy with that, well, we won't be meeting them.

Sending a face pic here always garnered trust hence why i won't send one with out first getting g an idea of who i am chatting to

As for sending them on that's something that's being happening for years

I wouldn't meet anyone without seeing a face pic. let's face it, physical attraction is hugely important to most.

I presume you called out the people who sent them to you? It’s all well and good talking about it but unless you’re going to make it clear to your friends that it’s not cool then it’s nothing but lip service

I understand the need for them, but also understand the reasons not to send one. I won’t normally send if we’re only a few messages into a chat, but if I thought a meet etc may be on the horizon, ld always send one. At the same time, if someone asks for a face pic I’d expect them to share one also.

I will only send a face pic if I've been chatting to someone for a good while. I stopped joining the face pics threads a long time ago .If someone get pushy trying to get one I stop chatting.

Sadly private pics and info is shared quite a bit on here. You just have to take responsibility for your own privacy. I'm not ashamed of being on here but at the same time I prefer to keep my private life private.

I did ask them where they got these what's apps from but it was just sent to them from other people. In fairness it's not nice to be sending what's apps at other people's expense. It really put me off sending my face pic on here anyway.

I used to send face pics now and then...not often but when I thought I could trust someone...

Guess what happened...as soon as I sent a face pic I was sent face pics of women on here without even asking and they aren't aware their pics are being shared

This has happened 3 times by 3 different men...so I'm obviously thinking they must have shared my pics too without permission

So now I don't share face pics anymore and peeps are just gonna have to accept that I'm pretty and have absolutely nothing to hide

also may I add chatting endlessly to someone, then exchanging pics to realise there is no attraction is a pure waste of time imo.

I totally agree. I have a job that I'd be found apon if a fhoto of me appeared screenshooted from here. I'd find myself disaplined at work for it so I am very cautious now

Some people are going to be dicks and unfortunately it’s part and parcel of sharing any pic. Only thing you can do if you want to share a face pic is to make sure it’s a PG one that could have been stolen from anywhere. Give yourself some plausible deniability.

When I first joined there was always a thread called face pic Friday and it gradually stopped for the reasons mentioned

Giving out a phone number to share WhatsApp messages is more of a risk in my opinion if you're worried about work and its your real phone and not one for use on the site only

The thing where people demand a face pic with first message irks me not that I send many messages I prefer to meet people at parties or events. But if any of these people send me a mail about a party etc I leave them on read unless they have attached a face pic like they demand

And the guys who are so difficult to pls...requesting pic after pic after pic and still not happy

It actually speaks volumes about them and therefore they need to be avoided big time as in they're never happy or satisfied and high maintenance divos

I feel obliged to send one with each message so they know who to talk to. They don't know my name so all should be fine. But to share someone's face pic is awful.

Once gave my number and we chatted on WhatsApp. Next thing I know she added my Facebook and followed me on Instagram, privacy out the window altogether so super hesitant about it.

A female friend of mine joined the site too. The amount of people who tried to find out who she was is down right creepy ! Just gotta be careful and call them out when you see it

Unfortunately it happens and that's the chance you take when you share a pic. I had swapped face pics with a guy recently that had been chatting with. He than messaged me using my real name when I asked how he knew my name told me I came up as a friend suggestion in Facebook. When I told him it was creepy and inappropriate to use my name ( as hadn't given it to him here) he proceeded to say oh its OK he's discreet and my secret is safe. What secret I'm the single one he's the married one.

I've seen pics shared in groups and even left one chat group over it. If I share a pic with anyone I don't expect them to share it with someone else.

This can happen if you give your phone number and it's connected to face book or insta...you then start to appear as people they may know...once they've saved your phone number to their device.

Once you share your face pic with anyone you have lost the right to it.

Trusting your pic doesn't get passed around is a risk we all share.

I worked in privacy with a tech firm before and you’d be shocked of the profile a social media company can build on you with just a few bits of information. 99.99999% of the time there is nothing nefarious about it, but it just takes one rogue employee/process/error and it’s there for all to see....! I’m super careful since because of it! (Happy to discuss more in pm if someone has concerns they don’t want to mention here)

We had a scare before and wont be sharing anyone pics and only phone numbers go to actual friends or event organisers.

We live in too small an area and dont need our kids being asked questions or hearing rumours about us or parents being shown photos.

Only one of my vanilla friends knows about this and that's how I want to keep it

"I'm just after finding my ass picture on this profile funnewcpl and I know other pictures are from well known fabbers "

There was a very popular female fabber here but her profile has been hidden for 8 months. I recently discovered a Manchester female profile has stolen and is using her pics. She obviously had them stored for such a long time. I've no way of alerting the girl who's pics have been stolen...as I said her profile is hidden and she hasn't been online in over 8months. I've an excellent photographic memory and I'd recognise said females pics anywhere.

Ewwwww didnt know people did stuff like that. I see lots of profiles that say no face picture not going to chat so I send them face pics without a thought. Now guessing maybe shouldn't do that. Not that anyone would want a picture of my bake anyway though.

That's really shitty of people taking other peoples photos and videos and passing as their own. That's creepy!

Not trying to negate the seriousness of this, but is there any chance it’s the same person who’s just moved to Manchester? I have a couple of fab friends who have UK and Irl profiles?!? So it’s possible from my experience

Over the weekend a man asked for his profile to be reviewed

7 of his 8 pics were fake and at least 3 of them I recognised as being used by a previous fake profile

A well know male fabber had his pics used by someone else that uses the forums

I don't understand how they still stay on the site

No definitely not the same person. Pics are defo stolen from an Irish female profile. I never jump to conclusions without proper research.

I have to agree and the persons photos that are being used have their profile hidden for 8 months now. She had very recognisable photos and nearly always was number 1 in hot pics.

Happened to me years ago no kik has MSN swapped numbers next thing I knew was getting them sent to me demanding a meet, soon put a stop to it, he tried to demand a meet, soon pulled his horns in and put in his place

Sadly private pics and info is shared quite a bit on here. You just have to take responsibility for your own privacy. I'm not ashamed of being on here but at the same time I prefer to keep my private life private. "

My thoughts exactly. Any pushy requests early on for face pics i just say politely that i will in time but i need to feel some kind of trust. I never ever use the same pictures as i have elsewhere on the net. Exclusive to here only. Its amazing how many folk use the same face pictures as are on their fb and social media. Even married women playing away ... That means zero privacy at all, so easily searched out ... Nuts.

Folks it's relatively simple.

Use Fab in Secret folder only (Samsung phone), using AdBlock browsers. Only use Kik/WickrMe/etc for contact, as they don't give out phone number.

Stick to those and only ever send ugly, glasses wearing, gurning face pics.

It's saved me from being rode senseless for years and I see no point changing now

I was chatting to a couple a few years back and they asked for face pic. Being more naive at the time i sent one. Turns out they worked for the same company as me.

They then threatened me by saying if i didnt tell my boss that i was a member on here then they would.

I called them out on it by saying that if they did then questions would be asked as to how they knew. They blocked me.

I left the site for a year or so but it made me never want to share face pics again.

I always ask for face pics and I'm happy to share mine once I've received one.

I will share a pic for safety reasons - if a guy is coming to my home and we've never met before, I send their pic, name and Fab profile details / phone number to a friend in case something happens.

I'm very cautious, I have been on here before and have shared face pics only to find people have shared these pics onward. Being on this very small island it wasn't long before pics got back to my family (mother & sister) and god knows who else. Also found my pics were being used on various social media sites too. But I'm back again, hopefully a bit wiser.

Wise Decision ^^^^^^^

I once had a fwbs who refused to give me his phone number point blank He'd always ring me on a blocked number. I wouldn't mind I can be trusted 1,000%. But my BF would not allow me to see this guy unless he'd produce his phone number...So I used to meet this fwbs on the QT. I never ever understood why he always and ever blocked his number...Till one day I received a msg via fab from a female stating my fwb is married... Lol naive me eh... I never meet cheating married men ever... Anyway he turned out to be a dark horse in more ways than one... He was extremely secretive in many many ways... Sometimes peeps are not as they seem... Some have many guises.

Used send face pics but unfortunately got a stalker at one point who managed to track me down and get my phone number. He used send me pics of myself to my mobile. Totally freaked me out! So am very cautious now with what details I disclose never mind face pics. It means many think I’m not real and won’t meet but you really don’t know what people will do with information you give them

Based in Kerry, work in Cork.

I think the context would have a lot to do with it. I know that for some people there could be social or financial consequences, so I can understand why people wouldn't want it to happen. In general though, I don't think anyone likes the idea of their image being shared as a source of derision. This would be true for even the most innocuous photo on facebook.

If the accompanying narrative were, "look at this legend", it probably wouldn't be so bad. Obviously, this goes for face pics. Nude pics would be different - although I think that is just a different level of social conditioning.

I've thought about the dangers of having my face pic in my profile but I'm not ashamed to be on here in the first place. I would initially be embarrassed if I discovered my pics were doing the rounds on the internet, but that is more to do with cultural conditioning, I feel.

With a bit of meditation I feel like I would be able to be like "eh, ya, and....I know most of you fuckers would like to be on here as well "

As long as I'm behaving appropriately on here, I feel like I would have nothing to hide.

Now, that's not a license to go sharing my pics all over whatsapp!

I think we need an edit post button on here.

I'm like a few on here who decided long time ago not to send a face pic. If they don't like it then that's cool with me and we don't meet. Simple.

I've seen face pics share in fab Kik groups and as others have said they should be called out, but what usually happens is it backfires especially as a single guy and their friends rally round them.

All you can do is protect your own identity and not get involved with those who have done it/do it. I've left a couple Kik groups in the past over this very issue then the mods don't do anything when it's challenged.

If you care about your sexual privacy then always been a risk to provide facepics here. Always.

At the same time we wouldn't DREAM of meeting someone even for a coffee without a facepic, so it's just one of those things that you need to give if you want to receive.

You just need to have your head screwed in right about who you give it to and who you don't in order to minimise the risk.

So true!! It was early on my fab journey when I was all excited and very little other than horny thoughts in my head

"I'm like a few on here who decided long time ago not to send a face pic.

So you want share a pic and just rock up to a social not knowing what the other person looks like? "

I've never shared a pic to go to a social. If the person insists then I'll politely decline as I've done in the past. Some have understood my shared concerns and have accepted that and the social and meets have proceeded. A few chose not to meet.

That's the way it goes. Some people use it as partbof a filtering system like other things.

No one is forced to meet and we all meet by choice.

"Unfortunately it happens and that's the chance you take when you share a pic.

Jeeze how did it come up in Facebook "

Facebook own Whattsapp and all the data sent through it.

Well no. WhatsApp data is encrypted end to end so they can't see what's in it. They DO have and use metadata about who you contact and when, but not the actual data.

I would never meet anyone unless I saw a face pic. I also wouldn't exchange a face pic with someone unless we've being chatting for a while. You can exchange here and remove as soon as the other person has seen it .

That is true but what's to stop them taking a screen shot though?

What I found is that those who insist on one rarely if ever are willing to send one first, which I feel should be the case if you're asking.

It's one of those things that some are comfortable with and others aren't.

I've had a few blindfold first meets, no social involved, a lot of time chatting and getting to know each other and on the same wavelength. Good safety measures in place for both people but it boils down to a good gut feeling and trusting your gut. Again many would never consider that but others do and have had some amazing meets and made some great like minded friends.

We had a lady contact us on here yesterday, after the initial pleasantries were said the second question was can i have a face pic, When we declined the face pic request the conversation abruptly ceased. One has to wonder the motives for not even starting a conversation first but to demand a face pic even before chatting?

If that works for you then that's great. You are so right about screenshots and it does happen all the time. Its definitely a risk sharing. Ido agree with trusting your gut and having proper safety measures in place. After chatting to someone for a while they've generally suggested sharing a face pic and I'd not be the one to ask first for one. I do think it's a bit risky for a woman to go to a one to one meet without actually seeing a face pic first. A social where there are lots of others around is different as there is safety in numbers. I am actually chatting to someone since I think last October and neither of us have seen each others face. He's not asked to see me and I've not asked to see him. So good chat keeps things interesting and not what someone's face looks like.

What after months of chat and when everything is somewhat lifted you decide to meet and exchange face pics, and there's absolutely no attraction there on one or both sides, was that not a waste of time?

Ability to keep my interest is in conversation not what their face may or may not look like. Regular meets are stimulated by a face, it may help but as you rightly imply and imo the mind is what really engages and maintains the interest. Some struggle to have any meaningful conversation or expect the guy to do all the work.

A smile and eyes say an awful lot but can't always rely that they reflect the rest of the body in the same way either.

--------

We're all different and there are many different expectations and requirements for meeting.

We're not all to everyone's taste, doesn't make anyone less desirable to others either.
