The edge of town

Has anyone rented out their house through Airbnb & did you take out extra insurance?

We're thinking of renting our house out for a couple of months later in the year but the information on insurance and what it covers seems very vague.

Can't speak for myself but I have a friend who rents several.

There's is an insurance you get with air BnB to cover certain costs.

As far as I know he didn't do much extra. Just make sure nobody rents it for parties and what not and you should be fine

Its impossible to know who is renting it for parties. I have a friend who has an apartment on air bnb and it was absolutely trashed by renters who had a party in it. These are the risks you take I guess doing air bnb. Unless it's a well verified profile you can't be sure. And I don't think there's any insurance that will fully cover the costs.

You'll always get some ppl who just don't give a crap about other ppls property and these are ppl you try to avoid. I've rented my own place in air b&b and has no problems at all but it's a chance you take every time but you can check ppls profiles before hand to see how they are rated.

Last few years I had been doing air bnb. But as kk is high rent pressure zone I have been stopped from doing it by council now. Main tip id say like most have said hard to know who is right guest but do not except guests with no verification from other hosts. Hope it all goes well for u.

We rent out a house through Airbnb. As previously mentioned, there is insurance provided by Airbnb but we took out landlords insurance too just to be safe.

We've never had any problems with guests leaving the house in a bad state.

Forget airbnb, go through booking.com, much more traffic and you can set up a cash deposit payable on check-in, tends to put off the party people. You'll need public liability insurance to cover guests personal injury etc..

Thanks for the replies. We'll have to look more closely at Airbnb insurance to see what they cover. Taking out landlords insurance seems a good idea.

We're not overly concerned about the party people as we won't be doing short term or weekend rentals.
