Scored a Pfizer vax nearly 3wks ago. 2nd shot in 10days. Can’t wait!! No side effects at all.

A sore arm isn’t a side effect as any intramuscular jab can hurt.

Fact is I work in healthcare and no for the people suggesting it's a plea to get meets. It was a question to see if people are getting offered it as the slots open last minute for jabs and also some people I know have had very bad side effects like some people stated above. I have heard that if you have had covid then the side effects seem to be worse.

I had Covid in November and it floored me until mid February completely. As a frontline paramedic I got the first dose of Astra Zeneca and had zero side effects to it. Currently waiting on the second dose which should be in 5 weeks or so.

I fear the admin of categorising is going to slow everything down. If we are to believe the promise of vaccinating the majority of over 18s by end of July then just get on and do it in any order. We have all waited so long for this now just get it out as quick as possible

The categorising isn't working the system of ages may work quicker but the biggest issue is the number of vaccines we are getting.

As for the guards not been a priority two guards attended a domestic this week, next day get call to say one of the couple had tested positive to there's two guards that went home to their family but didn't know they had been close to a positive case. They are up close to people the majority of the time.

But I get the feeling that the media are just so busy trying to turn us all against each other and deflect from the real problem. That they couldn't organise a piss up I a brewery. People who have already received the vaccine getting texts to invite them for their first job. No shows, double booking appointments.

Yes I agree with you. It is being handled very badly. They haven’t a clue what they are at. The Gardai have been pushed further down the list now, I don’t blame them for having no respect or faith in Garda management anymore. I know of some suffering with mental health issues due to things being handled so unprofessionally over the last 12 months.

I think the Gardai should have been a priority like healthcare professionals. They have to be up close day in day out with people who tend to have very little regard for laws, who have no problem spitting and brandishing needles etc. The guards are at the forefront of breaking up mass gatherings, domestic situation and all sorts of anti social behaviour. I think they have been amazing throughout.

The teachers looking for priority is a joke. They rarely have to be in close proximity to students. SNAs are different.

The active ingredient of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is BNT162b2, which contains the genetic code for the coronavirus spike protein, inside a lipid (fat) capsule. The vaccine also contains other inactive ingredients such as cholesterol.

The active ingredient of the Oxford-AstraZeneca ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine is made from a modified adenovirus which causes the common cold in chimpanzees. This virus has been modified so that it cannot cause an infection. It is used to deliver the genetic code for the coronavirus spike protein. The vaccine also contains inactive ingredients such as polysorbate 80, an emulsifier, and a very small amount of alcohol (0.002mg per dose). The vaccine also contains traces of magnesium (3 to 20 parts per million).

The one thing that bothers me most is the HSE portal trick

The codes were going around so that hundreds got vaccinated that don't even work in The HSE

Then hundreds of HSE workers, non frontline used the portal and got vaccinated

I have a friend who did that, only in The HSE a week on a temp contract in an office and told what to do by others in her office

First in December as I’m frontline and second March which hit me with a bang for a day - I took myself to the bath and actually cried like a baby as I was feeling sorry for myself.

Eros is way down the list but hopefully he shall get his in the coming months.

Last year was the first time I have ever taken the flu jab also.

Colleagues that got the second had mixed reactions which made me feel better for being a woose.

Think anyone fibbing about having both are tykes that should think about their health rather than a flash in the pan with a lady - tut tut tut!

Yes and even my job puts me in contact with numerous people on a daily basis and I take imuno suppressant however the phara companys make a lot more drugs that treat different ailments and if these come short in supply the mortality rate will rise. So for the pharma workers and contractors that are keeping the drug supply chain going I have no problem with getting a vax

In what category? To my knowledge the type and severity of diabetes or asthma (as another example) will determine if you're high risk. It doesn't sound like your friend is in the latter. Just join the age based queue and one day you get your jab.

No not all. Only those with diabetes who have a HbA1c =5. Don't ask me what the latter means, I've no idea but the information is out there and google is your friend.

"quick question. does anyone know if they have been newly diagnosed with diabetes, do they get vaccinated in this category? a friend of mine was diagnosed with diabetes but has to have repeat bloods in 3 months and nurse told them until those are completed, they won't be vaccinated. is this right?

In what category? To my knowledge the type and severity of diabetes or asthma (as another example) will determine if you're high risk. It doesn't sound like your friend is in the latter. Just join the age based queue and one day you get your jab. I dont understand the diabetes numbers but there's was high in first blood test and is on medication. has to have bloods repeated in 3 months. I thought the category were in now all diabetics (which is classed as high risk) are been vaccinated.

No not all. Only those with diabetes who have a HbA1c =5. Don't ask me what the latter means, I've no idea but the information is out there and google is your friend. "
