It's breaching GAA guidelines so I think a sporting punishment... I judging from the pictures it was pretty distanced stuff so I don't think it needs to go furthet than that

They shouldn't have trained to be fair because it just means they'll be further ahead of all the other counties...give them a chance lads

Forget covid for a second.... there was a training ban in place for all teams. Its breach of competition rules and should be punished as such.

Well 3-4 weeks after all ireland last year spike in numbers in Mayo and Dublin not a word about it, let the kids play and put championship on hold. They should be made examples of as kids look up to these guys.

its the mentality of the way some people are gone. a cousin of mine was cutting his gaa clubs pitch the other day, gates open and guards come in. he said I'm only cutting the pitch. they said oh we got a call that the pitch was open and been used, we had to respond. it just shows you what covid has done to some peoples mindset.

on the cork issue? they were caught also but I'd say tonnes of IC players/teams are doing it and not getting caught. I don't know what the Dublin punishment will be but I hope its not 2 overboard.

These people are heroes to a lot of Irish children. The GAA specifically requested yesterday that people hang tough until the right date, says it all really....ill-disciplined and disrespectful

Well you can't not punish someone for stealing because other people are stealing and not getting caught.

No nothing overboard but a punishment should be applied

Nothing new here. Gaa teams have been breaking rules regarding winter training bans for years and getting away with it. There's more teams than Dublin breaking the rules at the moment. Defer the championship for a few months as a punishment

I think some are blowing it out of proportion. it was a few players having a non contact kick about in a field. it wasn't a full panel doing a full contact normal session with everybody present.

gaa players club and county, they are all training john on individual programmes. whether a few get together and have a non contact kick about or puck about, I don't know but in relation to pictures been taken, it just shows you how the world is gone. teams shouldn't have done it but a few players is not the end of the world. upto now it would of been frustration but doing it when things can restart in a few weeks is strange. its probably trying to get a head start.

The association specifically stated 12 hrs earlier that no training was to take place. So regardless of how many were just having a non contact session,it was breaking the rules/guidelines! If every club and team decided to do the same thing then what's the point of rules in the first place? It's only a non contact session after all? The same rules apply to ALL sporting organisations...might as well let them all break the rules!!! Doesn't give a shite what me or anyone else thinks of what the rules are, they're there for a reason! I coach underage football and I'm going mad not being able to train or play matches. So are my players. But you know what? We're not training until we're told by our governing body that it's safe to do so. And that should apply to EVERYONE involved in sport! Harmless non contact session?? Blatant disregard for the rules and lack of respect for the people trying their best during what is without doubt a horrible time.

Completely irrelevant. You live in a country where you cry bitch and moan if laws are broken. No one gets to choose which laws they follow, give out and moan about laws all you like but that's what separates us from countries like Italy and Brazil. this group of morons have now given the green light to teams all over the country who might have held off for a fee more weeks. I do agree that they should be allowed to train but I prefer players my kids look up to to follow the laws like the rest of us.

It really does, kids havent trained since December and it doesnt start back again until April 26th, just think of all the development they have missed out on and the people they look up to can't give the guidelines (agree with them or not) the respect.

imagine blowing out of proportion a few lads kicking ball and then saying its a bad eg for kids. when I go back training u 13s or 15s, they won't say "did you see those footballs who went back doing some non contact training". all will bother them is getting back on the pitch with friends playing their sports which should be happening before the 26th.

Because the field was open and a concerned citizen reported it to the guards because we all know they are closed. Just imagine if the guards found several county players kicking a ball to each other from a distance, but each player caught the ball and then kicked it to another. Hopefully none of them had the virus because him catching the ball would leave the virus on the ball for the rest to catch

That's the problem along side the fact they broke other guidelines these are role models for thousands of kids who would love to kick a ball to their friends

the "concerned" citizen just had to check why someone opened the gate to enter the field. just as every curtain twitcher does during covid, they call the guards. every club field, length and breath of the country is been cut. jesus, I hope when we do go back training those footballs and slioters are washed thoroughly before and after every session and I think we will add in sanitising your hands after every ball touched during training also, just to be on the safe side u know.
