How does a person get independently verified that they have no sexual criminal record or that you are not on the sex offender's list in Ireland?

Garda vetting... any club or business that deals with kids are required to complete these and most employers would require it

The thing is you can't just get vetted as an individual. Only a registered organisation can invite you to start the vetting process.

And whats even worse every organisation has to apply separately for you

I'm vetted 3 times for 3 organisations instead of just having a renewable card like a drivers license

I would have thought so, what would be the point otherwise, you have a clearance from 3 months ago, could have received a conviction in the interim.

Yeah same here about multiple vetting applications but as noted above, something could have happened in between the time you were first vetted and then the next time you require clearance so thats why the process always needs to run again.

Yeah it's a bizarre process and by the time you get the vet results, the event has long passed.

It's about as useful as someone's negative STI test result from last November

Well I mean it shows if someone has a history of sexual violence or abuse.... so not quite like an STI test....

Yes they might have offended since their last vetting but any decent organisation will do annual or at least every 2 year tests

Do you fill in new forms yearly or just give permission for them to check again

I've never been asked except the inital first time I needed it

New forms each year....

As far as I know they can just run it again. I could be wrong

I think it depends as there is two types of vetting process, one for Act vetting and one for Non Act vetting.

One is related to working with Children and Vulnerable people and one is related to working with particular government agencies etc..
