"I find what he did completely inappropriate and shows a lack of respect for the animals he trains.Yes the horse is dead and I know that nobody wanted that to happen and if it had been my horse (not that I've ever had horses in training ) I would have been beyond furious at him .I've lost horses before and it's horrible BUT I would never pose for a photo on any of the ones that died and I don't believe his story but I do think it was a spur of the moment thing though and he didn't actually mean any harm if that makes sense . I do think however that the reaction has gotten way out of line. And is a massive over reaction by some .The relevant authorities are already looking into it and he has lost horses that people have moved from him to other trainers.I think he has already paid for a spur of the moment act of stupidity and the witch hunt that is continuing especially with threats etc is complete and utter over reaction .I wouldn't be a fan of his even before this but he doesn't deserve what is happening to him now." I see what you mean there Bo . I don't condone what he did, I think it was stupid for him to do, it was something a kid or teenager might do. I mean I wouldn't go riding a dead horse either but just cause I'd think it was kinda gross, wouldn't have thought about the owners and that.

"What’s everyone’s opinion here? Yes I believe he was totally wrong in what he done, but he’s getting abused to the last from anything I see on social media. The man is human too and anyone can make mistakes. I think he may just take it on the chin and everyone should move on." I agree with above. Image wasn't a good look even Gordon admits that. But is that the worst thing in horse racing. What happens to dead horses, use of the whip, gambling addiction, middle Eastern horse owners abducting their daughters....

"Just from working in that industry i never once saw a horse mistreated by anyone in any yard or stables We know the photo was released because of him having an affair so it was timed to cause as much damage as possible which it has He should have told the truth with his apology He's sorry the horse died and that he was showing off ... Ted walsh was very good on the radio discussing it " ted walsh is the best i have heard speaking about it so far

"[Removed by poster at 04/03/21 22:23:50]" He only has himself to blame and then his statement only made it worse, no sympathy here. It will be interesting to see what the Irish racing board do tomorrow, will they fudge it like all the other controversy and hope it goes away or will they for once man up and issue prober discipline. The British did and acted swiftly , fair play to them

"Same snowflakes again hunting, coursing and horseracing feck off ya melts " Dogs pulling foxes apart is not sport, fun or entertainment Anyone that enjoys it is not right in the head Coursing is barbaric and is used to feed into the greyhound industry which should be closed down in my opinion Horseracing's main fault is that it's fixed so the ordinary punter doesn't have the inside track but all the connections do. I'm told regularly when to bet and when not to bet on certain horses as some races are designed to get their odds up for the next time so that more money can be made by those in the know

"I did say the main fault because I think gambling is a terrible addiction and too many people are hooked on it That's not a reflection of those that work in the stables and such but it is a reflection on the trainers and owners who plan these wins and loses It happens a lot in my experience " It is actually a reflection and anyone who has or works in this industry will see it .The same crap that is heard all the time .No actual credit given to all the hard work that the vast majority do . I always wonder tho how come these so called people with all this massive "inside" info are never millionaires if they have so much info . I'm done talking about it as I should know better at this stage .

They hunt foxes for pest control, do you know what they do or are you just so worried about the cuddly animal being killed? Nothing about them killing rabbits, hares, sheep, poultry for the pure fun of it!! That's all it is your opinion doesn't matter a fuck! How is the greyhound industry barbaric? Yeah people 'stop' horses to get them down in the handicap it's the only chance some have of getting a winner and making ends meat! If you don't like it don't follow racing go find something you like and can't give out about!

" I'd say closer to 98% but handicap marks are looked for deliberately and it is the certain few yards who are known for it but certainly in the main not the case. Any sport which involves betting will always have an element of corruption which we have seen in football, snooker and even cricket among others.

"I know absolutely nothing about racing and apart from a bet on the grand national years ago that's the entirety of my involvement in betting. My knowledge of horses is that they have a leg on each corner. My grandfather had numerous jobs over his lifetime and one of those was recovering dead animals and he often told stories about having his lunch sitting next to a dead horse or cow. When Eliot said he had done it without thinking I assumed he had casually sat on the horse as he was on the phone but when I saw the pic it was obviously posed and he was sitting astride it for his insta moment. It was a stupid and idiotic thing to do but that's not unique to him. Stupid and idiotic things are said and done on here every day including on this very thread. As I've already said I have no experience with the racing fraternity but I'm always amazed when sweeping generalisations are made and fingers pointed based on something read on Twitter or passed on by Tracy on Facebook. " Tracy has an awful lot to answer for. Can’t keep her gob shut that wan!!!

That's your opinion, I think you should go mind your own business but hey that's just my opinion! " Are you for real ?? In the 1500s they would have trapped or snared foxes as pest control. Fox hunting has always been a sport it has nothing to do with pest control. Same as hunting stags with hounds, hare coursing , dog fighting etc it's always been about sport. Was there any need for name calling if you can't get your point across without calling names it shows your intellectual level.
