Hey,

Curious to see if many people on here have a big crush on any social media famous/influencers, a lot of them talk so openly about romance/online apps. Maybe we have a few among us?

Wouldn't even waste Google time to see who is classed as an influencer.

Stop following the majority of them as all you see is their highlight real , not real life

Megan Jayne Crabbe (Bodyposipanda) Georgina Horne (Fullerfigurefullerbust)

Dawn Elliott (Dawnyelliott)

I have serious girl crushes for these ladies, not least for the strong messages they present

Can't stand most of them. I have a friend who's one though and makes good cash with 100k followers. Always getting clothes and that for free...I'm jealous

I wonder is their time in the sun coming to an end

Serious backlash against them in The UK for them having "essential" work in Dubai during the pandemic

Also do they expect to

"work " at it forever

Most of the properly successful ones are pretty great entrepreneurs to be fair and I'm sure someone thats tuned in enough making a living off being an influencer is probably already looking at other revenue streams....

These aren't people that went on big brother and sell their gender reveal party pictures .

They are people to recognised how modern marketing was changing and build a brand around that.

I'd be more worried if I was working in a small old fashioned marketing company tbh....

Obviously there are loads jumping on the trend but that happens with all new business types

Paige Spiranac though when I say I’d love to play with her I really would, she’s a golfer who also uses her natural beauty to promote herself

The ones I crush on tend to actually have something to say and are not much about plugging products or showing off airbrushed lives.

It's easy to tar everyone that uses social media with the vapid stick but in this world where young women especially are constantly bombarded with the expectation of "perfection" by social media, what better tool than that same social media to fight back and promote the message that it's ok to be yourself and to embrace who you are, to empower young women?

Influencer is not a job. I find the whole thing mind boggling. If you took a penneys mannequin flew it around the world , took photos of it in free gear from whatever brand. And wrote stupid hashtags. Essentially the same thing.

I agree with you ...can you imagine in a few years having a cv with influencer as your last 3 years of a job description

I think the word freeloader is interchangeable with some of them...not all

I've looked up a bit online since earlier just to understand it a bit more

I dont think so. I dont know anything it, but I know if it was that easy, every moderately attractive millennial with an ego would make a living from it.

In order to make it, it must be a non stop full time job with an insanely strict exercise regime and diet so your body is flawless. On social media at all times networking, making connections, following the current trends, reviewing makeup etc from your sponsors. You're basically a buisness person, makeup artist, photographer, journalist, fitness guru, and whatever other occupations I'm not contemplating.

It sounds exhausting.

There are numerous successful influencers who are not Instagram models.....

I dont really follow people online but I can recognise and respect people showing drive and ambition and making a success of themselves

Far from entrepreneurs, they do absolutely nothing themselves other than take photos and do exactly what the ‘brands’ tell them.

Notions

Well the have monetised if for their own benefit.

There are loads if them who have launched their own brands from it.

Dunno that seem pretty entrepreneur like to me

Yea sorry no interest in people that call themselves influencers or social media famous what even is social media famous, in my opinion it's a group of lazy attention whores that dont want a real job, like 16 year olds calling themselves influences is bit mad

I work with an influencer / blogger/ YouTuber . She is useless at her job but a serious business woman. She is making a fortune from it . Has thousands of followers , gets free holidays all over the world and free hotels / meals/ clothes etc ... fair play to them for taking advantage of the market although I’m 100% not into that stuff .

Indeed, especially given that people such as Christiano Ronaldo, Beyoncé, Lionel Messi, Huda Kattan & Taylor Swift are amongst the world's top influencers. Like them or loathe them but I think we can all agree that they are far from just social media famous wannabes
