Know a little about a lot or have an in depth knowledge of a few specific topics?

Personally I choose the first and am quite content to pick up snippets of information as I go on a wide range of subjects but I know others who prefer to study a particular subject for days, weeks or months.

Studying was never something that came naturally to me so I've never had a thirst for knowledge but that has never held me back.

I'm not talking specifically about those with doctorates or who study continuously as part of their chosen field.

It's more about everyday learning.

If I see something I've never heard of or don't understand I'll read an article or two at most and can walk away from it then.

Others though take a much more in depth approach and research it ad infinitum.

There's an awful lot of useless meaningless information in our lives.

Without specialists in certain areas of medicine, technology and science we would not have evolved over the centuries

A bit of both is a good balance
