Interesting way to accom. I see loads of them parked in Cobh by the train station often wondered if they were swinging...maybe a pampas grass out front would be a giveaway...lol

A motor home was spotted going through Kildare last Valentine's weekend. It was rainbow coloured and emblazoned across the back in huge letters was the words Shagging Wagon. You'd have to wonder was it a Fabber

Lots of information online with youtube videos etc.

If you are thinking of building your own, you need to set a timeline on it and get it done. I've seen many a van started and it goes on for months or even years and hundreds of hours spent on something you're supposed to be away enjoying. Also it's very important to pick a good quality base vehicle to build on and not something at the end of its days and then spending several thouy euros on a conversion.

If it was me, I'd just buy one ready to go. Been there done that years ago and would recommend it to anyone, but only with a quality van.

There are couples in the uk who drive a caravan to Eureka, stay the w.e on the nudist camp...have a great time at the friday n saturday night parties...and drive home!!

You coukd do a tour of the island...just a stove, a week's supply of burgers and enough condoms and lube to start a brothel!

Good caravans are getting scarce with the the whole staycation thing and lack of accommodation available everyone is looking at caravans. You have to be very carful buying 1 though and where you buy from plenty of damp boxes out there and badly maintained/repaired lemons

Looks like there are a few brains on here that I could pick for info.

I'm doing some work on my own van. It won't be a full camper conversion, just modified to suit our use. I'm trying to decide whether or not to bother putting in an inverter & have been trying for months to find someone to install two windows.

Use leisure batteries to power/charge your electronics.. They are deep cycle so should last a long time before needing a recharge.. For the windows you could attempt yourself if you were DIY minded.. Just outline the area you want to cut with a marker and use a jigsaw with metal cutting blade and cut it out then fit the windows and silicone around edges to prevent leaks.. It might appear daunting to cut a hole in your van but that's what somebody will do if you pay them...

I'm thinking of doing a European tour in a campervan when all this madness is under control. I want to be able to park the van up and fly home...then fly back and pick up where I left off. Does anyone know if there are longterm parks for campers...I don't fancy the parking fees at airports and would prefer if the van was safe and secure. Anyone made a similar trip ?

Cheers, I won't need leisure batteries as the inverter will only be really used when the van is running. I was preparing to tackle the windows myself but a fellow Fabber has offered their services. They'll be a lot easier to do with someone who has done them before.

If your getting an inverter go for 1000w as 300w is not that strong. If you use it to. Power anything with a heavy start up draw u will pop it. 1000w good for most things. When u turn stuff on forst there can be a jolt of power to get it going thats what kills smaller inverters.
