What is it with met Éireann coming out with stupid sensationalist weather warnings.. Last week we were told we would be snowed in by now and all it is just cold weather.. Hailstones more than anything else...now they've pulled back and said it will be only a few cms.. Would do your head in..

Met Éireann didn't come out with sensationalist warnings. They said there'd be snow. There was snow. You might not have got it but lots of places did.

I wonder if you're confusing sensationalist headlines on lovindublin and The Sun wth actual weather forecasters?

How were they wrong?

I use the Met Éireann app every day as weather is important to my work. They said that from Sunday night onwards there'd be showers of snow with the greatest chance of accumulations on Thursday and Friday. Guess what? There were accumulations yesterday with some roads impassable in the west.

If you thought it was going to be worse than that you weren't getting the forecast from Met Éireann.

Agree with this. The Met Éireann app is usually very accurate.

Met Éireann addressed that over a week ago and said it would not be a major snow incident. Between 2 and 5 cm at most was what they said, and lo and behold, that's what came. They also didn't say it would be snowy everywhere. Stop taking your weather forecasts from non weather forecasters.

That's the problem with talking about snow here.

You didn't get that from Met Éireann. On one weather forecast on RTÉ last week they specifically addressed that and said it would not be a "beast from the east" type scenario.

Some areas had sever weather conditions, roads impassable, power cuts etc. Just because some areas got off lightly, does not make the general weather warnings stupid.
