it is a addiction alcohol and a disease and it helps people like me and others to get through every day is there anyone on here with these problems and need a little help and advice im willing to help remember your not alone or dont be ashamed speaking up helps us all as i know.

Have seeing many a good man ruined by this, can eventually lead to loss of family, wife, partner etc. Seems to be a lot more common in men than women. Thankfully there is plenty of help available out there, but it all boils down to the individual. If he wants to seek the help himself, they have a much greater chance of giving up. But if they are only doing it because of pressure from someone else, then their less likely to kick the habit.

I’d imagine AA meetings must be good help, getting to talk to others going through the same struggles

I think women could be just as bad as men only they can hide itbetter my sis was one thankfully she been of it for few years now

I've never tasted alcohol and it's something I'm very proud of because I didn't bow to peer pressure growing up.

It was a personal choice and one I have no intention of changing.

However I've seen far too many people become a slave to it and those who don't drink are made to feel different and weird.

I know 2 guys who never touched a drop until they were 21 and by the time they went through university they both had to have major operations brought on by alcohol abuse. One was told he would never see his 30th birthday if he took another drop.

I've been chastised by someone on a training course for letting Ireland down by not being a drinker and again by someone else while on holiday in the States for not being a true Irishman.

There is enormous pressure on people involving alcohol and not everyone has the strength of will to avoid it so anyone who thinks or knows they have a problem should seek help asap before it gets out of control.

I agree OP anyone looking for help should use this Method for sure. But then it's not for everyone so there are treatment centers help people with that. Alot of it could be social anxiety to even attend them it's not easy to take that leap of faith. There are alot of people who are in total denial of the problem, keep justifying it because they know no different and are full of fear.

Lockdown has afforded new opportunities to seek help as AA classes can be accessed online anywhere in the world. So day or night when you need a meeting you can attend one.

I have seen it in my family what it can do to people and families. At the time help wasn’t really there but now it is. Like most things it’s taking the first step is always the hardest. This is where friends can help. Maybe talk to them and they can help with the first step.

Yes it does well one is never truly recovered it's a day at a time.

This mornings new shocked me, this is how the government deals with problems, let's extend licences and get d*unk. Lol it's a joke i understood the loss of the trade as have many many other trades also. Well done in office, maybe they might bring a drinking license into the offices next ha ha.
