What’s happening there? Is it as bad as the media make out? Paper today reckons crime is drastically under-reported

I dont think under reporting is exclusive to that area. I would imagine there are plenty of parts in ireland where people would not report a crime for fear of retaliation. I would hazard a guess that if the area is quite rough and there are gangs etc who would have no qualms about firing something through your window then I wouldnt be in a rush to report anything either

The reports about escalating violent attacks in Dublin is very worrying. There is definitely an escalation in knife culture and gang culture. Gangs of teenagers attacking people. I've seen YouTube clips glorifying this shit in music videos and these supposed Dublin post code gangs. Also clips of attacks sent around on WhatsApp.

Yes it's under reported because if you report anything you could be murdered ...simple as.

I'm sure if you live there you're used to it and the community you live in I'm sure there's people on here from the area who will explain it better

I work there and sometimes its a nightmare with cars getting broken into and staff get attacked but it had settled down

When my kids were old enough to go into town on their own I told them to stay on the GPO side of o Connell street and not cross over under any circumstances to keep them safe in my eyes

It’s worrying and its on the up not just in dublin its all over the country. I know of an area where theres gangs of teens attacking and even a gang r a p e and this is a small town. Wonder is boredom a factor

Boredom is no excuse for that tho. Any decent person no matter age, gender or peer pressure would do any of these things because they are bored. It's just making excuses where there is none for that.

People in balbriggan are being tormented by gangs of African teens running amok.. Woman stabbed few months back as she walked across a car park.. There have been loads of nasty incidents like this but media are not reporting it for fear of stoking racial tensions.. Ireland 2021

Not trying to victim blame here as he was only a young kid but why are gangs of 16 yr olds heading into that area which is way outside their 5 km travel zone

Somebody just made it up then.. Sounds like something Donald Trump would say.. On the same day as this supposed fake house fire gangs of African Irish teens were brawling on the green across from it also in another video 2 groups of African Irish youths fighting.. 1 gets stabbed and the guy who stabbed him is screaming yes clenching his fists and congratulating himself on a job well done.. Lovely isn't it.. Diversity is a wonderful thing they say.. I know someone who lives in balbriggan who says it's every bit as bad as its made out.. Many people living there are sick and want their town back

I lived in Balbriggan until recently. There no gangs terrorising the town. The far right looking to make out a problem that doesn't exsist.

When I was a teen I did and saw my friends get up to no good. But not every teen are bad as but not all teens are good either. But to say Balbriggan is being overrun is wrong. It's a normal town like every other area in Ireland that is and used to be in 70s, 80s etc

The few things that seem very concerning in the city - turf wars between immigrant service industry, particularly deliveroo, and the “locals”

- age of the kids involved with knife crime, no understanding of how devastating a knife wound to the body is, and no real appreciation for life

- policing perhaps has taken its eye off the community due to the pandemic

The death of that poor woman in or around the IFSC, a 14 yr old according to the news. A terrible outcome for all those families. Tragic.

Dublin and most other Irish cities still have exceptionally low crime rates. It’s a safe, great little city, but like all places.... has trouble not too far from the surface.

Just my thoughts on a Sunday night.

Klaus Schwab has written a book about the great reset. Hes given a number of interviews about it. Its the 4th industrial revolution. I dont think thats a conspiracy theory or anything to do with the far right

I cant say ive paid too much attention to a lot of things swirling around. I did see an interview he did advocating for a reset in the aftermath of covid. But theories have abounded for millenia. Its up to the individual to question and learn and decide whether its real or not.
