Does the above have a positive or negative connotation for you?

Himself and myself are arguing/debating here. I'm saying it's positive and he's saying it's negative (I'm right ).

What do you guys think?

Think it's more positive like plain sailing, or all the hard work is done.

On a night out with friends and the shots start when that phrase gets said anything could happen

I've always used it in a negative way as saying you've peaked and the anticipation, the thrill and the adventure is coming to an end so that's as good as it gets

I've only ever used it in a negative way. I never even thought there could be a positive way to take it until you said

Carrick on Shannon

I use it as a negative, like when I'm in a happy place (on Holidays) and having to head home back to work- it sure is all down hill

First thing that came to mind.

When out on the bike and you hear that..... all positive.. let the fun begin, after 20mins of uphill

It's like the hard work is done so it's all freewheeling from now on, like as with cycling (or skiing ) I suppose BM.

So were you confused by our new pic??

It's always had negative connotations for me. In the same way you say things have gone downhill.

Its positive, not covid positive which of course would of course have to be negative but postive in a postive non-corona-19 kinda way.

You've reached the top, the hard work is down so its all downhill now

Capisce

If all the hard work is done you say you've broken the back of it

Its all downhill means things will never be better than they are at a certain point in time

That's not positive

Somewhere in Co. Down

It's always had negative meaning for me also when people say it. But ye I suppose in some circumstances it could be positive.

That is postive

Its all good is the message surely....

So you've done the hard work, now you're fucked and sliding down a hill perilously to suffer 2 broken legs and meet a pack of rabid wild wolves!

Shiver me timbers

I think it’s context/tone dependant...but usually a negative, unless your after cycling up a hill.

Am wondering if how you take it says something about you having a positive or negative outlook. I prefer to look on the bright side of things but that phrase reminds me staying with my cousin in my uncles farm in the country. We used to cycle into the village a couple of miles away and there was a big hill half way there so when we got to the top of it we always used to say "its all down hill from here" which was a good thing thus the positive

I think it depends on how you say it.

Like, if you say "it's all downhill from here", it means the hard part is over and only the easy downhill part is ahead of you (good)

But if you say "everything WENT downhill" then something messed up, and you have a lot more extra work to do to get back up to the top (bad)

Since when did you join Monty Python... ?

Great pic guys... love it

I suppose the wife’s always right but I’d have said it in the same vein as it’s gone down the Swanee ... but plain sailing hopefully from here ...

You can frame lots of things to make them positive

However someone saying they to you is... well you know the answer!

Sorry Nicole
