He was proof indeed that ordinary people can do great things, and inspire others. He was a wee shining light in the morass of seemingly never-ending grim news

Do not go gentle into that good night

Old age should burn and rave at close of day

Rage, rage against the dying of the light

Though wise men at their end know dark is right

Because their words had forked no lightning

They do not go gentle into that good night

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright

Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay

Rage, rage against the dying of the light

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight

And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way

Do not go gentle into that good night

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight

Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay

Rage, rage against the dying of the light

And now, my father, there on the sad height

Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears I pray

Do not go gentle into that good night

Rage, rage against the dying of the light

Dylan Thomas

Near Okehampton.

A true Hero

Served his Country to the end.

Puts all the snowflakes to shame.

Bet he never banged on about his human rights or his Civil liberties.

This Gentleman will go down in History, they just dont make them like that any more.

by a lake with my rod out

It's sad the a man in his 90s had to raise money for a rich countries health service.

But he showed there are good people in the world.

I hope he enjoyed his last holiday with his family and it brings treasured memories to his family

Did it actually break any lockdown rules

I hope he thoroughly enjoyed himself. At that age I’m sure Capt. Sir Tom knew his days were short. He was an intelligent man, who I think would’ve refused to go if he didn’t want to.

His family made a statement today because of internet trolls

He came home from holiday and test negative

He got pneumonia 2 weeks later and had to be taken into hospital...he tested negative before being admitted...he caught it in the hospital

I missed that.

But I’m not surprised he caught it at hospital

A man of courage; courage is an old fashioned value, but all other values depend on it.
