"They taste great but the downside is they are not healthy as they are full of sugar, when you smooth the fruit it releases more sugar than you would normaly get from eating fruit," you're right. Eating them everyday is not good. Eating whole fruit is better.

"They taste great but the downside is they are not healthy as they are full of sugar, when you smooth the fruit it releases more sugar than you would normaly get from eating fruit," That's not true! Blending fruit does not magically increase its sugar content! Blending breaks down the fibre of the fruit, meaning that it is consumed and absorbed into your body much faster than if you were to just eat it. This sudden intake will of course create a sharp rise in your blood sugar level, but only because you're consuming it so quickly. If you were to eat the same amount of fruit that you would normally blend, you're still getting the same amount of sugar, it will just take you longer to eat and longer for your bodies to absorb. Smoothies are only bad for you if you throw in much more fruit than you need to

"They taste great but the downside is they are not healthy as they are full of sugar, when you smooth the fruit it releases more sugar than you would normaly get from eating fruit," Thats why the healthiest option is add a handful of mixed berries (rich in antioxidants and low IG) My fav is green smoothie with all the herbs from my garden, a bit of turmeric and ginger root, spinach, broccolli, lemon and aloe vera juice. Also coconut water Yummm

"Yes they are but they remove the fruit fibre which is very important part of our diet and also because the fiber is removed, the natural fruit sugars can hit the liver fast and not be digested properly. Smoothies are lovely, but probably not a good idea to consume your full daily fruit intake this way. I prefer to eat fruit naturally now. Maybe a qualified nutritionist or dietitian can advise on this? " You're smart man Fran, the odd smoothie is ok though but it also depends what you put in there and how large your smoothie is. Anyhow I prefer my kale with spuds and a sausage and my spinach with fish, on a plate unblended.

"They taste great but the downside is they are not healthy as they are full of sugar, when you smooth the fruit it releases more sugar than you would normaly get from eating fruit," Nope that’s only if you juice them and take out the pulp. The pulp is the fibre in fruit and it helps delay the absorption of fructose but either way, it’s a much better sugar for your system than glucose. Also adding protein, yogurt milk nuts etc slows the absorption further. Fruit is part of your 5 a day,

Its also helps to regulate the level of choresterol in your bloodstream, not only helping the digestive system. I use the mix of plantago psyllium seeds (70%), plantago ovata husk (20%) and freshly ground milk thistle seeds (10%)

"Are frozen berries not a problem or was that in the past " Well proceed frozen food is still rich in vitamins in microelements but unfortunately they lost their enzymes during the freezing process, so if possible its great to mix frozen with raw veggies to balance it. I steam most of the veggies as they still have everything body needs. Generally, process less, eating more raw food is beneficial to our bodies as we take all the goodies. We used to forget that during slow chew some enzymes are activated in our digestive system, and it helps to absorb as many goodies from the food as possible. This process wouldn't happen when drinking juice or smoothie. I have learned a lot last 10 years about food, how to prepare it to still have a rich in nutrition meals. I can honesty recommend Joe Fuhrman's books

"do you like them? I think they're a great way to get healthy stuff into your diet. " Yea very easy to eat healthy with a blender.. I just had a banana with skin, 2 small carrots, some curly kale, half a lemon, a large cabbage leaf blended with a little water.. Surprisingly good
