I've had enough of winter so I'm officially starting spring early. Id rather an extra month of spring than take this as the last month of winter

I wish it would start today but February is a winter month imo and the temperatures confirm this. It's the Celtic calendar that says spring starts today, probably to lift peoples mood as Irish winter is just depressing.

I found this on the internet and it makes sense:

MIDSUMMERS day (the middle of summer) is the summer solstice, which is around June 21st.

Each season lasts for 3 months, so if June the 21st is the middle of the summer season, then spring begins 1.5 seasons earlier than that date.

1.5 seasons = 4.5 months.

So by this logic, spring would begin in a week or so.

I'm gonna go with the Gaelic calender and say Earrach, spring is beginning now.

Personal opinions may vary, especially for those living on the north west coast!!

I disagree, 21th of June is the 1st day of summer which is why the old saying "days get longer in the summer and shorter in the winter" is wrong, it's actually the opposite, days get shorter in the summer and longer in the winter.

So the 21th of March is the the first day of spring

Since we live in Ireland it is Spring. The season of spring according to our calendar is February, March, April.

From a meteorological point of view it may not be spring like but that's a different issue.
