Vaccine priority list

I saw some report on the examiner saying travellers get covid 46% more than the gen pop per capita and there are calls from some travellers with support from some on social media to get travellers on the priority list for vaccinations .

I wonder why the report doesn't mention the low compliance of mask wearing per capita/social distancing. Rathkeale was awash with uk reg cars at xmas but sure covid has an agenda against travellers or it's the govts fault somehow.

In the lead up to xmas I was in Cork city maybe 3 or 4 times. Must have seen at the very least 20/30 travellers not wearing masks indoors and those that were were mostly wearing over the mouth leaving nose exposed .

The age old "some settled people' didnt wear masks is a whopper. Significantly more wore masks per capita. It has fuck all to do with racism and everything to do with wanting special treatment as usual.

There definitely was issues within the GAA but as far as I'm aware there hasn't been calls for anyone involved in the sport to be given priority due to their association with the GAA.

Oddly enough they never bring up the prison stats per capita when comparing against the general population. You'd wonder why

there was a small few mishaps in the gaa like celebrating teams home when they won a county title. this was in the small minority. this also wasn't during a level 5. patience is wearing thin though with people. I hope this vaccine works.

big funerals, session after it to celebrate somebodies life is big with travellers but its an Irish thing in general.

With a prison population of 10% male/22% female from last stats I saw with a population of 0.6% it's much more likely a traveller will be committing a crime per capita than a person who would be categorised in the general population for the sake of comparison.

Did they rob any tools or dogs while there also ?

They'd have a higher prison population too if they had a fixed address and were easier to find

I wonder what education they will get during lockdown ?

I feel sorry for the kids to be honest. So many wuth parents locked up and a parent at home with little to no education to be of much help.

Out of curiosity.. do you think they should get priority listing for covid vaccine ?

If they are within the age bracket/medically vulnerable that dictates priority then yes they should as individuals be given the same access as the general population

As for the vaccine I deal with a lot if customers every Day and ones who don't understand keeping there distance but yet we are way down the line for the vaccine

There to only people so far that I have seen now the older travelers do wear them it's mostly the younger ones..there was a wedding in the town just before xmas and about 20 of them came into the store and not one wore a mask..they also were all stuck together and ignored the the stop signs at the front door when there was a certain number of customers in the store

Fair play to the older crowd for being responsible. Doesnt mean much though if younger crowd dont give 2 hoots

If it helps to cut the spread and protects the community and those around them, why not? We don't speak of huge numbers. There's roughly 30'000 travellers, of which 12'000 are 14 years and younger (= no vaccine). Means roughly 18'000 that could get the vaccine. Let's assume a 30% doesn't want the vaccine, then you're down to 12'000. Surely not worth all this spouting.

I've more of an issue with the hse office chair farters prioritising themselves. Very small number I know but can't stand the arrogance...

I think the issue was with lads coming south from the North with the North been riddled at the time but unfortunately those builders had to go to work.

covid at the end of the day will end up been,'if you get it, you get it' and just hope its like the flu or a mild dose and u won't need hospital treatment. at the moment covid is harder avoid then to get.
