What do people think if you could pay for the vaccine and skip the queue like private health insurance does.

If you had the money ..would you

I'd imagine the companies that make it at present will eventually start selling it privately to make as much money as possible

Are you implying that people now must start robbing orchards to make some extra cash to buy a vaccine?

Blasphemy!

Really shouldn’t be allowed. Money should not come into it.

Why? Because it should be free, or because you shouldt be able to pay to skip the queue and get it early?

Ireland is a member of the EU and we've agreed to get our vaccine centrally under an agreed contract by all member states

Germany went out and bought 90 million anyway

I see a company in The UK got caught offering 100k to a clinic today for vaccine for 20 staff

Shouldn't have to skip the queue , personally don't think footballers or rugby players or celebrities should skip the queue

I hadnt read up on whatever agreements the EU came up with towards distribution, but no way should healthy young professional athletes (the lowest of the low risk) be able to skip the queue just cuz they're famous. Money shouldn't come into it when it's a matter of life and death.

I think it should be free and it should be distributed in order of vulnerability to the disease. Money and fame should have no bearing.

The more affluent always have easier access to healthcare, it's a commodity for sale at the end of the day.

Western people think nothing of paying for vaccinations for preventable diseases when holidaying in third world countries, why are these diseases not eradicated in those countries?

Yes all the covid-19 vaccines come in around that price, I think the pfizer is the most expensive and AstraZeneca the cheapest. Yes of course they'd charge more because you've to factor in transport, storage, nurse/gp, facility etc. etc.

Whatever about the morality, I think it is inevitable that it will become available for private purchase once the more vulnerable are vaccinated. The projected roll out is so long that the laws of supply and demand will take over. I would pay for it now if I could.
