They were founded by an Irish Marist Brother from Sligo to raise funds to support poor Irish immigrants in Galsgow and Irish families living in poverty back in the late 1800s. So they were set up by Irish to help feed the irish on the breadline who were forced out of Ireland to search for work in Glasgow. You're spot on there, that's a real embarassment!!

Not at all, I never once referred to the fact you said you 'hated' them, hey like or hate whoever you want I don't care. But you said the whole 'irish thing is an embarrassment', BUT it's a fact, it's what the club were built on and who built the club. Are you embarassed to be Irish? or by Irish people who have emigrated and want to maintain some Irish identity and 2nd and 3rd generation Irish?? Do you feel the same about GAA clubs in other countries all over the world? | |||
