Anybody else a fan ? My favourite polemicist which I would love to hear his thoughts on the society if he were alive today . Certainly someone I look up to with how he conducted himself and his ability to artculate his thoughts.

An excellent speaker and a keen, open mind.

I'd wholeheartedly advise checking him out if you have an interest in intellectual debates on myriad topics

What an articulate guy he was. His shows with Sam Harris and Richard Dawkins are superb.

To have never read a quality article in a proper newspaper by hitchens seems unusual, that's all!

I haven't bought a news paper in I'd say 20 years.

That's not unusual at all.

Neither have I.

I'm well aware of the four Horsemen and seen enough of their beligerant, narcissistic, bullying and ignorant approach to anyone who dared to disagree with them that I lost interest in whatever point it was they were trying to put forward.

So I don't find it shocking at all.

Wowzers.

I'd suggest that debate is not bullying. If, during a debate, one side of the argument appears to be without merit then that hardly qualifies as bullying.

As for ignorance and belligerence, well, when one side of the argument is suggesting that human rights must be curtailed in order to keep their imaginary male, misogynistic, hateful friend happy... I'd become fairly belligerent too.

True ignorance is destroying the beauty of the garden to keep the fairies happy.

Hitchens rightly predicted the Islamist threat long before many others. He also unfrocked the hypocritical charlatan “mother” Teresa. Deserves to be more widely recognised for that alone...

I think you'll find the objecters , fully aware of who he is, annoyed by his convincing and withering arguements against their beliefs

He was a clear and resolute thinker .
