The Burbs

So everyone is sick of things at the moment and we're all completely fed up! I'm rarely serious on here but I just thought I'd see what peoples thoughts are? Are people taking this time to figure out whats really important in life? Jobs? Friends? Family? Who is important in your life? Being so thankful for the really small things? Perhaps maybe thinking life is way too short to stress the stupid stuff? I know I've reassessed a lot. Thoughts?

First thoughts being we likes your profile

Lockdown will and has changed lots of people in many different ways, but having a family tragedy years ago certainly changed myself (m) life is short, book that flight, tell that person you love them and family is always number 1 x

The first lockdown taught me so much about myself. I definitely took a step back and completely reassessed my life. Some really hard decisions made and a gamble that has paid off. Though I'm lucky as I've my family and my husband's family near by so was able to see them regularly . As a result of decisions made the 2nd lockdown wasn't as tough and I am so thankful for that.

Belfast

From March to May I explored my local area like never before and found places I didn't know existed.

In August I lost my job and even though I'd seen it coming it was still tough to accept as it was the first time in my life I'd been made redundant.

By that stage however I'd been on furlough for 5 months and had gotten used to the change of pace.

I'm now working for less than half the money and not knowing if there is a full weeks work for me or not because of all the hospitality changes and the uncertainty.

That reassessment was forced on me but apart from the financial side of things I'm in a better place because the long hours and intense pressure isn't there anymore.

I definitely have reassessed my life, how i have stopped and avoided things, I have walked away from one sided friendships, and I've realised who are there for me. I admitted stuff to family and friends that I have hidden and carried for a long time.

I have also started a life bucket list and look forward to ticking things off it. I have also been lucky and fortunate enough to have worked all along and realised that shift work hasn't been good for me and hopefully will get off the shift, it means losing money but my health and life is worth more than my job. And I'm actually saving money

I've been lucky as I have been in work all through lockdown. But in saying that the pressure of working through this pandemic has been hard and hasn't eased off. I have had some time off but always when we are locked down. Along with some other stuff going on it's pretty crap at present.

But in saying that I'm extremely grateful for great friends who have been amazing. I'm grateful I have a steady job. And that family and friends have all stayed safe throughout this whole thing. And I found some great places locally to go walking and seen how amazing and scenic an area I live in.

I've been pretty lucky also in that I only had 4 weeks of not working in the first lockdown and the smelly 2km thing was a great big pain in the nutsack but like others I got out to find some cracking local trails to enjoy while contemplating life a we know it. It's very hard when you hear ppl loosing their jobs and their livelihood and I know what that's like and it's not a good place to be but that being said it's also given ppl to get up readjust and take different paths that they might not have done before covid. Above all though... I'm thankful that all my family and friends have stayed safe and not had to mourn the loss of a loved one.

A clusterfuck of events in my life a decade ago meant I already had my "come to Jesus" moment.

I speak to alot of people through work, see alot of diff faces daily. the amount of people who have said "life is miserable" to me at the moment. it's a worrying comment.

I had to do my assessing 10 years ago during the previous recession. I had to face a few home truths and accept that I needed help and to change my priorities in life. This time around I feel I’m in a much better place to deal with the lockdowns, although I am one of the lucky ones who apart from a few weeks during the first lockdown I’ve worked right through.

I think New Years resolutions for 2021 are gonna take on a whole new meaning.

I'm reassessing whats important in life.I lost my job due to covid and realise that in reality the job was making me lose my life.So now im taking time out and re evaluating things.I won't go back to work until next year and it may well be on alot less but im happy to do that so that I can get my own life balanced. When you are in the middle of a situation where you can't see the woods from the trees you dont realise the damage your doing to yourself. You also learn who your true friends are when your down.

For us the circumstances have forced us to regroup . It had me slowed down on my business travel by at least 65% as much of my work is done from home now . Even customer training is rendered via online sessions .

For us as the couple the whole lockdown thing was actually good as for once we had consecutive weeks with each other. And as many mentioned before , it was a good time to reassess relations , identifying clearer friendships versus shallow acquaintance .

That said we are looking forward to social life restarting in whatever form

Here, there & everywhere

We’ve reassessed for sure!

We want more fun from life and from fab than the dreary conversations we were having and stopped replying to the utter rudeness we got - it’s just block straight away.

We only get one life and a lot of people have lost a lot this year including us.

So get out there and live your life and stop holding back.

Someone once told me if you’re considering something it’s a sure sign you wana do it so do it!

Bye bye ignorant people and look forward to 2021 and lots more fun. M xx

Yep, Cherie, I can concur with these. My world has completely changed since start of pandemic. I’m in a different job completely where I was doing weekends shifts I’m now 9-5 weekdays. A huge difference for me. Family wise, I Lost two grandparents in last three months, one of whom I was very close to. I have had to change the way I live. A lot of life aspects are different compared to start of year here. So reassessing, yep I’ve done that to see where in life I’m at.

Has been a very long year......but has taught me alot. Losing a very close friend last year made me sit back and realise whats important. Struggled with isolation and watching a family member battling with alcoholism. Watching my closest friend cope with 2 members of her family who have both cancer (1 terminal). Can't wait for this year to be over

Ah thanks to everyone for sharing, its certainly been a shite year. I was wondering if people were mostly positive or negative about their own situations. I know there are a lot of conspiracy theorists, anti mask protestors, people still having parties and not following the guidelines & rules etc..but the truth is everyone is still suffering in their own way because of this and being stuck indoors doesnt help. I was still very fortunate to keep my job and physically go to work which I'm very grateful for. So sorry to all those who lost their jobs this time of year can be particularly hard for a lot of people without all this covid crap to deal with too!

Just remember it's ok not to be ok! The first step is always the hardest.

Let's hope 2021 goes better! xx

Thanks for the kind words Cherie, but for me it was always out talking and meeting people, My World has Completely Changed that aspect this year I’m trying to stick within guidelines as I have family members in at risk groups but it’s really tough going now

Let’s hope 2021 is better for all x
