Fashion Disasters

somewhere

Coming from an answer I gave to someone else earlier

I can't be the only one in my teenage years who thought I looked the dogs bollox when I went out but actually didn't

I hit 18 in 1983 and still remember going to the disco bars of Dublin dressed like an extra in a Duran Duran video.

I was definitely a new romantic with baggy everything and even leg warmers a few times

Top of the pops 2 is just one big flashback to me

However my biggest diaster was dressing as Adam Ant at the roller disco in crumlin...cossack jacket, feather earring and white lines

Anyone one else got fashion diaster memories

I remember walking out the front door with my mother once when I was about 17

She asked me to walk ahead as she didn't want people to know she was with me because of what I had on

Fashion disasters weren't created in the 80's and they didn't die in the 90's.

There are many days now when I wonder if people have mirrors in their homes?

Across all age groups

Dublin City

I was a Cure/Smiths/rock chick. Shaved Half head, Docs, tutu, ripped tartan tights, lace shirts. I was so freaking cool (read: I really wasn’t).

Its amazing how reading some posts you can tell a persons age without looking...I remember they played their only Irish concert at the height of their fame in the 70's near my house .....everyone had tartan scarfs and jeans with tartan bottoms
