Don't believe in it, what the person claims to love doesn't even exist as the feeling is not reciprocated. At best, it's waste of one's own time and energy, at worst it can be a source of significant psychological distress for both the "lover" and the unfortunate unwilling object of their attention

Thanks, nice to see people with compassion on here, it’s rare. Friendship is still ok as far as I know. It’s that awful feeling, can’t eat, stomach in knots etc that I’m trying to cope with at the moment. It sucks

I know it feels better when that love is returned, but all you can do is sit with the feeling, the ache, and flow through it. But don't stop loving her. Aw that's tough, especially when she's your best friend. But you did the right thing in telling her, assuming that you're both unattached. It would have driven you mad otherwise.

At least now you know the score and can start healing. Just tell her that despite what happened, you'll always be there for her and continue the friendship if possible.

Its tough one cause your best friends.... and on the one hand its good you still have the friendship but on the other its hard cause rejection isn't nice even from a best friend.....

Not to give you false hope but maybe she values your friendship more than being in a relationship and if that was to finish you would lose everything.

Definitly one of lifes greatest gut wrenching heart breaking times of anyones life should it ever occur and l honestly think it actually happens to everyone at some stage or part of their lives..l honestly think no one escapes being in that situation if even for only a short time..that we are totally nuts about someone but alas its not or never will be returned ...
